Avalanche - Alpine Boutique Hotel

Our stay at this hotel left much to be desired. Upon arrival at 11 am (well before the 3 pm check-in), we didn’t expect to check in early but hoped for a warm welcome and a place to securely leave our luggage. Instead, we were met with an unfriendly reception and told, “You’re early.” To our disappointment, there was no luggage room, and we had to leave our bags in the small reception area at our own risk. This poor first impression set the tone for the rest of our stay. The rooms themselves were small and basic, lacking amenities like a full-length mirror, but they were functional for our needs since we didn’t spend much time in them. However, housekeeping was inconsistent. While the beds were changed and items moved around, the rooms never felt truly clean. Towels left on the floor for replacement were simply re-hung, and after three days, we had to request fresh towels ourselves. The most upsetting incident involved my husband’s expensive aftershave. Upon returning to our room one evening, there was a strong smell of it, yet the bottle was nowhere to be found. We suspect it was dropped and smashed by housekeeping, but there was no broken glass or remnants to confirm this. When we reported the issue to reception, the general manager visited our room, acknowledged the smell, and initially promised compensation. However, we later received an email stating we’d need to drive 30 minutes to file a police report, and the hotel ultimately refused to take responsibility or assist further. Overall, this stay was marred by poor customer service, lack of cleanliness, and unresolved issues. The unhelpful attitude from the staff and management left us frustrated and disappointed. I would not recommend staying here.

We did think that the hotel would be finished by the time we stopped there, but this is not the case and won't be until May. We have been stopping in Sauze for many years and like to stop at different places to test them out. Two weeks prior we were in one of the ABC apartments. The employees are very friendly and make you feel welcomed and helpful, but we do know Sauze so that helps. Hence us booking on the slope refurbished hotel. They gave us a room over looking Sauze and facing the sun in the afternoon, with a balcony which was nice. But the room was very small and felt very cramped. Minor touches to detail with the cleaning:- please dust the radiator in the bathroom. However there is soap, shower gel and caps. There is a free hot drinks machine in reception which has amazing hot chocolate. It's disappointing that you have to go to Hotel Clotes next door for breakfast, but we knew what to expect as we have stopped there twice before. Get the timing right for breakfast, otherwise it gets very busy for a small area. The staff are quick at cleaning up the tables though. I would not recommend going the back way across the mud, its' a bit of a hazard, go down the end of the drive and walk a bit further. The breakfast has it's usual european average breakfast. The hotel do not have a ski room at present, so it's not a ski in and out which was disappointing considering it's on the slope. The give you a locker under the Clotes lift which you ar4e able to put skis, boots and helmet in. It's only a small walk to go to it, all good for a warm up and cool down before and after skiing. Looking forward to going back next week though with our daughter and boyfriend. Hoping that we get a bigger room! A car parking space and it's not so busy at breakfast!

We knew the hotels renovation was not quite finished ie no bar or restaurant from reviews on trip advisor and *********** so we had reservations about going To say we had no need to worry was an understatement. The hotels decor is finished to a high standard and a very able and friendly staff to accompany this. The hotel is situated on the bottom of the slope so no walking with skis and the bars are very close by. Breakfast is served 50 metres away in the clotes hotel and again quality food and lots of choice. We will definitely return some day

Fantastic location, great staff, A brand new hotel with a few small improvements that can be made, However it is a beautiful hotel, you can walk across the slope to the chair lift in 2 mins Good value , very cozy , Will be superb when the bar /terrace is built Enjoyed our stay very much
