Gideon Putnam Hotel

Perfect location and charming old world charm. Shuttle service to the spa was effortless. Our driver was chivalrous and very informative.

The hotel needs updating and the cleaning staff was not on top of the property. The plumbing was backed up the entire stay in the shower and the sink.

The hotel is a beautiful building, elegant and wonderfully restored and maintained. Our room was on the top floor and was spacious and modernized. The surrounding park is lovely for walks and it’s only a short trip to Saratoga town center which has cute shops and restaurants. The negatives: the old elevator is very noisy. Our room was at the other end of the hallway from the elevator and we could still hear it in our room, eveytime it was in use. A convo with other guests in the elevator confirmed that they heard it all the time too. Advice: get a room with a low number - 501, 502, etc. as far from the elevator as possible. One other small gripe: for a 4-star hotel, why the plastic cups in the room? Kinda tacky. Finally, I have food allergies and I can’t say I felt confident with the wait staff we had. They clearly had not been briefed as to the possible allergens in the food they were serving, which didn’t make me feel safe with what I was eating. I ended up avoiding a lot of things that may/may not have been ok.

We were there so briefly, we did not get the full experience of offerings. The bathroom could use an update. It looked like the tile was painted and peeling.

Loved the history & the charm of the Gideon hotel. It felt like we went back in time. The grounds are amazing. & the Roosevelt spa & surrounding building are historic. We truly fell in love with all of it!!! Dinner at Putnam’s located inside hotel was amazing. Great food. Great staff. Ate there twice. We were located on the third floor in an executive suite & it was fully renovated. It had a sitting room & 1 bedroom. Not sure what the Gideon pumps into the main lobby. But the scent is truly amazing. All of the staff was so friendly & helpful. Shout out to Eric at the front desk since his name is the one I remember. But everyone went above & was always smiling. The place is just stunning & lovely. Perfect weekend getaway. But could stay longer. We truly can’t wait to visit again. Fall was definitely the perfect time. We also visited the spa & my massage was fantastic. I had Jodi. I would absolutely ask for her again.
