Red Monkey Hostel Barra Funda

Simply wonderful great experience! I went to take part in a competition and was practically in front of the test site. But what surprised me was the welcome, at Red you are not just a guest... You enter as if you were going to see old friends! Welcomed by the pets Quico and Bud... Beautiful! Cozy, pleasant atmosphere and yes, I only praise Dona Maria's Team... Rafael is super attentive, in short, lots of compliments, a lot. I will definitely come back! I highly recommend it!

First Hostel experience and perhaps the last. When completing the request, it was written that I would stay in a female room and when I arrived, they placed me in a mixed room, with me being the only woman who spent more days. The beds are bunk beds and are absurdly high, we have no safe support to get on and my bed was so soft that it leaned against the wall as one of the ends had crooked, broken wood. And detail: they only put the girls on the top beds and the men on the bottom. None of them liked having to climb into the bunk because it was too high and there was no possibility of changing it because they said it was "reserved". I closed for 4 days and spent two days completely alone in the room without reserving any of the other beds, having to go up and down that insecure thing alone. What helped me was a mirror facing my bed and I knew where I was stepping on the stairs to go up or down. There was no water filter, it's okay that there are hostels that don't offer breakfast like this one. But there is no water?! The bathrooms were always busy, there was no organization and if you asked yourself where you could go to brush your teeth, they never knew which bathroom was available. Two of the attendants are very nice, but I had problems with Edson. I asked to borrow a charger because mine wasn't working and I put it to charge on the bed underneath as it was the only socket within reach. I lay down to rest while I used my cell phone and closed the curtain for privacy as they opened the door directly to the room. Without asking for permission, he arrived, opening the curtain and saying not to stay there as there was a reservation. Two days alone in the same room, 3 days in that bed without anyone occupying it?? I argued that I needed the socket and he asked me to use the socket on my bed. My bed was so high that I couldn't even reach the socket, that was embarrassing. And continuing to talk about him, as I said, I was alone in the room for days so I took the opportunity to change since the bathrooms were busy. I closed the door and changed and in the middle of changing he opened the bedroom door at once. Without asking for permission, without knocking on the door. I looked back scared and he ran back to close the door but half a second later he knocked on the door as if nothing had happened and said he wanted to see if the beds were organized. People? For God's sake, this hostel doesn't know how to deal with women. I felt insecure the entire time. That part was horrible. There was a lot of dirt, a lot of uncleaned dog poop and they seemed to notice how often I went out. Privacy, security and comfort? Zero. I do not recommend.

The neighborhood is not so safe and the waiting time to enter the hostel didn't help much, so I recommend paying attention to this part... But the shared bathroom was well organized and clean, as were the rooms. I brought my own bedding (blanket, sheet, so I had no problems with that). There was a party (as described in the other reviews), but that didn't interfere with my stay. There is space to use a stove, fridge if you need it and there are lockers to leave your belongings under the bunks, but you need to bring a padlock).

Necesitaba alquilar una habitación por unas horas, de 9:00 a.m. a 10:00 p.m. pero me dijeron que no se podía, que tenía que alquilarla normal, o sea hasta el día siguiente; no importa, no tuve problema. Pagué la tarifa y alquilé la habitación en teoría del 27/12/2024 al 28/12/2024. Sin embargo, a las 9:30 p.m. nos tocaron la puerta a ver a qué hora nos íbamos, le dije al muchacho que como a las 10, pero que igual teníamos la habitación hasta el día siguiente. Luego, a las 10:00 p.m. nuevamente nos tocaron la puerta, que si ya nos íbamos o que si íbamos a ocupar más tiempo. Fue muy descortés, prácticamente nos hicieron echados como perros. Apuré a alistar las cosas e irme rápido. No recomiendo este lugar, a la hora de la salida lo molestan hasta que uno se harte y se vaya.
