El hotel es impresionante… los alrededores con los jardines, casa del te, el spa y la piscina…. Todo es realmente increíble. Una pena haber pasado allí solo una noche… el desayuno en el jardín es todo un lujo… nos ha gustado todo!!!!

It was such a joy to revist Casa Velha. Our stay last year was exceptional and this year was like coming home to good friends and real relaxation. There is peace here in abundance: sit in the sunshine outside with a coffee and the birdsong and just revel in the quiet hospitality. Or park yourself in front of the library fire with a good book and let the cares wash away. The new kitchen arrangements are fantastic and let us feel that Chef and his team are truly part of the staff who care for us so well. Thank you to them for all the wonderful food. Reception, manangement and Luiz and the team looked after us so well: again, thank you! We miss you and hope to see you again soon. The newly reconfigured pool outdoors meant that I swam nearly every day...in February! Luxury! The house, the rooms, the gardens are all so well looked after and have given us such joy. ] Another two weeks next year? Oh, yes!

The hotel is unique. Old world charm and elegance with all necessary modern facilities in a beautiful garden with spectacular views and its own rather challenging 18 hole golf course all perched on a mountaintop 400 meters above the capital Funchal. The cuisine was of high quality but a little hit and miss. The service was friendly and first class. The perfect place for a relaxing holiday without children.

We keep coming back. Beautiful building and gardens. Further enhanced by free access to adjacent botanical garden. Quality of rooms excellent. Dining is superb. beautiful golf course attached - not that we play but an attraction for those who do. Heated swimming pool with Spa and small gym. It ticks so many boxes for us.

In the middle of a beautiful garden, the cottage is peaceful to stay in. We appreciated also the food and good services. The golf is also great.

An incredible place with a stunning property and a magnificent garden – it was a pleasure to stroll around with our dog. The overall atmosphere is very appealing: tranquility, privacy, and a mature guest crowd, which is a huge plus as everyone respects each other’s space. I lowered the rating only because of the poorly designed “Do Not Disturb” and “Please Clean the Room” door signs. The wind kept flipping them, and as a result, we were woken up several times in the morning despite setting “Do Not Disturb,” and our room wasn’t cleaned when we requested it. We didn’t make it to the restaurant because of inconsistencies with room service—ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken but received boiled chicken instead, and the same issue happened with the sandwiches. Everything was tasty and well-prepared, just not what we expected. We would love to return and will definitely recommend the hotel. The wine was fantastic—we ordered some in Madrid and have already shared it with family! With great respect, Kseniia & Kiryl
