We booked a week at the hotel mainly for its location. The location itself did not disappoint as it is set in a national park but as it is the middle of August, we were not alone. The hotel is old but a grande dame it is not, more like a tired, worn out woman who should be in retirement. My daughter and I booked a superior room but really cannot tell what was superior about it apart from the fact that it was on a higher floor. Actually, being on a higher floor made it worse as it gets hit by the unrelenting sun in the afternoon which makes the room a stifling oven. Although the hotel claims to have air-conditioning, we could not feel it. The whiff that came out of the vent was weaker than a child trying to blow out candles on a birthday cake. After surviving the first night, I promptly asked for a change of room but was only offered a fan. For the rest of the stay, our nights were spent sweating on the beds and air dried. The rest of the room needs no mentioning as there really was nothing worth a mention - just think of an old (as opposed to a youth) hostel. One thing that struck me was the timeline proudly displayed on a wall of the hotel - it started in 1964 and stopped at 2014 which says it all really. I believe it still has potential and with some serious upgrading of facilities, the lady can be revived.

We came for only 4 days for my partner's birthday. We were treated without respect by the staff member. She spoke almost no English. Screaming, aggressive, rude never seen behaviour like that. I complained in the reception, however, no apology or change came from that. When you are coming on holiday, a hotel that constantly lacks coffee or juice for breakfast would be already irritating, however, staff that does not speak English and is rude and aggressive is something that should never disturb your holidays. I do not recommend it! Avoid at all cost

Hotel Playa Mondrago is a wonderful hotel. Fabulous location with many rooms having glorious beach views. The rooms have been refurbished and are looking really good. Excellent restaurant and very friendly team who genuinely care and nothing is too much. Once you get here you can’t be bothered moving unless it’s the 20 meters or so the beach or a visit to the excellent beach restaurant and bar. Hard to believe it only receives a 3 star rating as it has everything you need for really great holiday. Also worth mentioning a well timed local bus service if you really must leave the hotel. We are already planning our next visit. Congratulations Juan and the Mondrago team for making your brilliant hotel even better

Very good location! Very quiet and peaceful area…Sea view room, clean and top class, beautiful beach, staff very friendly and helpful. Nice swimming pool, good breakfast, hotels restaurant and bar…We arrived during covid restrictions and wasn’t any night entertainment but it wasn’t what we looking for. Unforgettable memories! Highly recommend.

This charming hotel is a real find, combining a warm and friendly family atmosphere, a stunningly beautiful location a few minutes walk from three gorgeous natural beaches with no development thanks to being in a nature reserve, and simple yet delicious food. Highly recommended. We wish we had been able to stay for longer.

This hotel is a straightforward, unpretentious delight to stay in. The room was clean and had all we wanted for our short stay and the chance to explore the wonderful beaches and reserve nearby. Nothing flash here but it’s relaxed and really well placed. I had some of the nicest plain grilled fish I’ve ever eaten. Really fresh and tasty and, like the hotel, unfussy. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and one staff member went completely over and above after we left something in our room. Top spot. Thank you.

Dirty rooms, little help and problem solving, kitchen and common areas more of the same, very neglected, and unfriendly staff, I highlighted the one who seemed to be in charge, ignoring everything and referring problems to others, fatal, the only good thing is the beach , the hotel, one of the worst we have been to

This hotel has a unique location, which is the biggest plus. You can easily park your rental car at one of the hotel's three private car parks. Rooms ordinary and verging on dated, but clean and good sanitary facilities. Fairly hard mattresses. We took half board because there is not really an alternative for dining in the immediate vicinity. The dinner in the hotel, however, is not much. The cook on duty makes little work of the meager buffet and the offer is disappointing. The first day we even got a 'fixed' menu because there were too few half board residents. In addition, the cook managed to provide spaghetti as an appetizer, followed by a dish with a few dry-fried pork slices. This just doesn't look like anything. The breakfast was fortunately a bit better, but not to spontaneously dance the hornpipe… There is a swimming pool around which it is quite nice to relax. Unfortunately, there is an additional cost for 'renting' a bath towel, just like you have to pay extra in the room for the use of the safe. We paid 150€/night with the 2 of us and then I think those things MUST be included. My conclusion, however beautifully the hotel is set in the area, cannot but be that this is seriously overpriced. I tried but will NOT come back here. Porto Petrol is just around the corner and in the vicinity is a nice Iberostar hotel which is worth its price!

Cute little beach restaurant but very expensive for almost empty plates reheated in the microwave. The wine wasn't good either. Extremely disappointed. There is a snack next door which I think is much better. Next time we will take a good look at trip advisor before settling down…
