The hotel itself is deceptively very, very big. We didn’t see any elevators, only stairs and so I don’t think (although there are ramps) it’s disabled person friendly. The hotel itself is not a 5 star, in my partners and my personal opinion as two people from England, but more likely a 4 star. I did hear that Rui Palace is more promising. I MUST say though, the staff are very accepting and welcoming of the stray cats at the hotel. They’re never shooed off or mistreated at the hotel from what we saw and more often than not you’d see a cat on a sun lounger dosing or other guests (myself included) sneaking food for them. I’ve included a picture of one of the friendliest cats (both I’ve met in and out of the UK! Bless him). If you do see the cats please treat them nicely, they’re harmless little things. There is a dogs home within walking distance; I couldn’t go as my heart can’t take it and I would come away with more than one dog if I visited but please keep it in mind to pop in. It is called OSPA in Sal. The good things of the hotel: 2 pools cleaned regularly 2 eateries Lots of (very comfy!) sun beds Plenty of places to sit in the day Well kept greenery and grounds The staff are AMAZING. They’re a true attribute to the hotel itself and I hope the management team are appreciative. They work so, so hard. They’re always friendly, warm and carry themselves beautifully. Always very smart, never chattering away but always attentive to your needs. A special shout out to Ann Paula, Daniel and Esmael at Mosaico. Another guy, who brought us coffee whose name I didn’t catch, also very good. Paulo and Carla at the Azul bar were very very pleasant and welcoming. Alex at the snack bar was super attentive and friendly, very happy! Tissania was one of the young entertainers at the hotel, she was always busy up and about trying to get people involved. Darlene at Yhi Spa, I hope she gets what she wants one day but she was really pleasant. I had a manicure and even though she wasn’t confident in her English, it was very good!! Special thanks to Sidney; he let us know extended our room to 2pm and managed to enable this to happen despite arrivals. It was very, very appreciated. Thank you!! Please pass on our gratitude and thanks to the staff. They work hard, they should know it’s appreciated. They’re so, so polite and hard working. A credit to the hotel. The pools are lovely, very well maintained, clean and the pool areas. The beach, don’t buy anything from the guys there! Save your money. They will tell you a few tales but I wouldn’t buy anything again. I got a hippo off a man in a checkered shirt, it had a wonky leg and the black dye has come off!! The beach is BEAUTIFUL. Transparent sea, white sand, clean! A few yards walk from the hotel itself, huge bonus! ️ The not so good things: The cleanliness isn’t amazing around where the hotel rooms are. We reported a mauled bird nearing where our room is, it was still there that evening and the ne

My girlfriend and I spend 5 nights in Melia Llana and everything was awesome. The staff was very kind, and always ready to help us whit anything. The animation team are very talented, Cristiano and Mayara always spreading good energy around the hotel, they should receive a raise for sure. The pool bar is awesome too whit Kassandra making the best cocktails. I recommend everyone too spend where a few days.

Enjoying the Safira Pool bar. Kassandra who worked behind the bar was there every day, and despite being really busy and on her feet all day, was always happy and smiling and chatty. She went out of her way to make some extra cocktails to try while we sat at the bar. Great service

We were very enthousiastic about the riviera snackbar. The food was very good, and we were very happy with the waitress, her name is Elida Silva Bor. She realy made us feel very special and welcome ! You can realy see that she likes her job and wants to give the People a good feeding!

Lovely hotel, but has some issues. Check in was perfect made to feel very welcome and was well informed of location of room and all areas. Cases delivered to the room within 10 minutes. Room clean and tidy with a view of the pool, huge bed, sofa, kettle and stocked fridge with beer, water and soft drinks, extra bottle of water with the kettle, tea and coffee. The bathroom had plenty of towels with a small number of toiletries. An separate toilet which was a great addition to the room. The restaurant was of a good standard but not 5 star, its a buffet and the food was always hot and always managed to find something to eat, my issue is with the lack of staff, ignored on many occasions while waiting for a drink with my meal, the staff are always on the go and probably just short staffed but it is a service which is seriously lacking. The bar areas are not table service which is what I expect for a 5 star resort, the avenue bar was only manned by one member of staff. The drinks are local brands which again is bad service especially when branded drinks are on the gantry, but if you wish branded to have to pay extra. The drinks had no kick to them which is a good thing and also bad if you like the buzz. The cocktails were a no no for me, premixed and loaded with sugar. We went to the Italian restaurant which was superb, table service with attentive staff but had 4 glasses of wine, while I should of been a wreak, walked out in a straight line . Had some small issue with house keeping, no toilet roll and had to wait 3.5hrs for 1 to be delivered, again lacking of staff. My real bug bear is on check out, asks 3 days in advance if I could keep my room for an couple of extra hours, told don't know, come back! Went back on the Thursday to be told no, fair enough then to find out that everyone else checking out kept their room, also watched from the pool and room wasn't cleaned until 4pm after us wanting it till 2pm . The cape verdeans have a motto 'No Stress' and they surely try and use it, but omg they can stress you out. Would I go back, to cape verde, yes, to the hotel no. Had better service in a 4 star elsewhere where and will try some other hotel after reading their reviews. P,S take plenty of repellent with you the mosquitoes are vicious.

Hotel was almost faultless, excellent food, spotlessly clean, great staff, I lost count of the amount of times our bed was changed, my only fault, given it is an adult hotel, is the lack of good evening entertainment. singer in the terrace bar finished about 9/9.30, 2 show a week outdoors, and some rather 'loud' entertainment in the bar a couple of nights. Pretty poor on the entertainment side. one of my quietest holidays ever. I say almost faultless - Because of mosquitos, which were immune to sprays, wipes, bands etc, more so in the terrace bar, surrounded by greenery, I found it impossible to stay out, especially at night. In other mosquito areas i have visited the hotel have sprayed twice a day, I didn't see this happen here. The amount of bites totally spoilt my holiday, up to 30 in 1 night not unusual. So be warned, NO complaints about the hotel, but beware of the vicious mosquitoes, this was after an hour in the Terrace bar.

The resort and local area are stunning. All the staff are very polite and friendly. The area seems very safe and trustworthy. We felt comfortable leaving our bag by the pool while going for food etc. Cristiano, Mayara, Edmara, Tissiana and Rui (Mr fantastic) were brilliant with entertainment throughout the whole stay including dancing and activities during the day and then shows during the evening. They made the whole experience even better. You can be as involved as you want to be. Bikini Beach Bar on the pier is well worth a visit. The locals love to dance! There’s a nice breeze through the day but helps when sun bathing and walking about with it being so warm. The rooms are clean and tidy, with even our basic room having air con and a small balcony with a table and chairs. The food has also been great, with plenty selection throughout. Breakfast is 10/10, lunch includes quite a lot of fish which isn’t our preference but we’ve been well fed at the snack bar by the pool, tea has a lot of selection (Mexican night especially good). We went to the Asian restaurant one night which we paid for and it was well worth it. The pool is well kept & clean, and we’ve had absolutely no problem getting a sunbed no matter what time we’ve come down. Only negatives being there were no straws for your drinks and once housekeeping hours were over it was quite a fight to get the reception to locate and bring up a roll of toilet paper to our room as the maid had forgot to replace the near empty roll in our room with no replacements left for us either. We all make mistakes. We will definitely be returning. Next time with straws and perhaps for 10 nights as a week didn’t quite feel long enough. Please note, plenty of places to go and things to do without paying for VIP access!

Nice hotel. Not 5* by European standards, maybe 4. 5* maybe achieved if you buy upgrades. Staff are great. They work very hard to ensure that everyone has the best holiday possible. Food quite repetitive, rarely hot at the buffet at dinner. Pool bar food at lunchtime much better. Rooms are nice, cleaned every day and towels changed. We unfortunately were flooded from room above during the night and had to be relocated. The next day involved repacking, moving then unpacking. This is quite a challenge when you're half way through your holiday. No follow up, apology or explanation as to what caused the flood or checking that we were ok with the alternative accommodation. Took some of the shine of the experience. Tui response has been very disappointing.

This holiday was a 11 day TUI package. Checkin was smooth, the receptionist both pleasant and helpful, we were asked if we wished to upgrade, but this feature was not pushed. We were given room 4235 which is on the outer perimeter of the complex, adjacient to an adjoining hotel, The room was spacious, comfortable and quite. Housekeeping, both in the room and hotel grounds was excellant at all times. As we declined to upgrade, we used the buffet for all our meals, generally there was a large selection of food on offer and we could sit either inside or dine Al Fresco, we chose the latter. The waiting staff were very attentive and always pleasant. The evening food selection for the first 5 days was excellant, however the choice for the remainder of our stay became a challange, it would appear that a lot of recyling took place, one could see identical dishes on subsequent days, indeed my wife did pick up a tummy bug, which lasted a couple of days. The pools, lounges and outside areas in general were well maintained, and the staff, which is a credit to Melia Llana could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Would I recogment Melia Llana to friends and family - Yes!! Would I go back, its unlikely, not because of the Melia, but cecause there is not a lot to explore on the Island once you done an Island tour, when one becomes of a certain age its always a challange. Sal's climate cannot be faulted, it's popuation happy, we in the UK could learn something from them. Anyone going to Sal and staying at the Melia Llana will not be disapointed.
