We are here right now and this is the first time Iv written a review. This is dirty and rundown, the staff walk round like it’s the last place they want to be. Nothing works, no beer at the swim up bar I asked for vodka she just said they have ran out, not oooo just wait a moment Iv nip and get some. You have to get dressed to go into the fun bar.. anything but.. where you can get a beer from a dirty beaker that they wash in a small sink with a dirty cloth.. absolutely disgusting. The soft drinks machines doesn’t work in the restaurant so nice warm flat pop. The wine is undrinkable and comes into a half pint glass .. the food is cold and bland. The main restaurant have no table service of a drink in the evening so you have to go outside bar, in general there maybe 6/8 people deep.. with always one person serving. We stayed at Boa Vista last year a different experience all together. Beautiful beach however the beach bar is dirty and again one person at the bar.. we asked to moved rooms which they did .. room slightly better. This hotel wasn’t cheep for the week also

a mixed review from a constant traveller.this hotel is not a 4* hotel. we have just come back from our first visit to Cape Verde. The main hotel is clean and presentable ,so are the comfort bungalows. the food is Ok but repetitive, the bar staff are really good and polite, and the maintenance team work hard. the main problem is are the comfort bungalows !! they are dated and would be hard to achieve a 2* rating anywhere else. DO NOT stay in one by the pool area. the noise is unbearable, its ok during the day but the night is awful with constant shouting and party goers shuffling past at 3/4/5am. 7 night stay with zero sleep !!! although the beach and location is extremely good.just a 5 minute walk into the town.

We were on vacation for 2 weeks and spent the second week in this hotel. The hotel looked good in the pictures, but when we arrived, it was a shock! The bungalows have remained in the 80s, and they have not been renovated much since construction. The first room was right next to the disco and the noise could be heard long into the night. As if you were on the dance floor! The staff were friendly and changed the room as far away from the noise as possible, thanks for that! The food is tasteless. Plus the nice outdoor spaces and the pools were never crowded!

Santa Maria is so beautiful place to stay but this hotel is one big catastrophe. First you come you can NEVER get sunbed at any of three swimming pools and after 9am not even at the beach. The same problem is in the restaurant, often is very hard to get place for sitting there. Next thing is that there are almost all the time missing glasses, sometimes even cups. So there are bevareges but you don't have anything where to put it. Bungalov comfort is smelling with lot of mold in bathroom and deluxe is from paper you hear absolutely everything from your neighbor, even air-condition. When you get your towel dirty or wet there is no chance to change it for new one during day because one day you need to return it back you to get new towel next day. So when you really need dry one for some trip etc poor you. There is no food at all in the beach bar, so you have to walk from the beach trough whole resort to get lunch. There is also the only one toilet for all ladies from the beach and nobody clean it all day, so terrible smell, sand and urine everywhere. We get bungalov close to the fence where was security man very loud shouting to his phone several times during all night. When we asked him to speak quiet he always said yes and continued shout to his phone.

The reception of the hotel is modern, but this is the only place which is nice, the rest is just old. This hotel has a potential, but unfortunately does not have a good care. Bungalows comfort are really ugly, had insects inside, the safety box was with the key, not code, air conditioner did not work properly, small fridge worked fine, did not have normal wardrobe, sink was in the room not in the bathroom. About the hotel room- it is a bit better, cleaned and a bit renovated, but still we had insects in our wardrobe. It is definitely better option than bungalow. There was safety box locking by code, ac worked properly and smell was also nice. Our cleaning lady was amazing! In general staff was great, very welcomed people, willing to help and happy. Food was good, there was always something to choose, we have never been hungry. Cocktails were bad, but beer was good. Beach was really beautiful and there was lots of sun-beds to use.

Bungalow use. Animation Fram inexistante.

Great hotel. A large, green complex. Delicious meals. Cool drinks and refreshments. Minus for small glasses. The advantage is a wonderful, large and sandy beach. Deckchairs with umbrellas on the beach. Animations okay. The atmosphere of friendship, safety (security everywhere) and relaxation. I recommend to everyone. A minor drawback is slightly cold water in the shower.

I needed somewhere to train whilst in Santa Maria for one month and was told you could pay to use this gym even if you are not staying at the hotel. All I can say is it has everything you need for a great workout and has some great old school Nautilus, cybex and hammer strength equipment. The girl on reception at the gym is friendly, helpful and beautiful. Reasonably priced also.

This was a return visit after we first stayed here 7 years ago, it didn't disappoint. Other hotels have sprung up further away from the town & may be newer & better equipped but the 'garden bungalows' at the Belorizonte are what makes this hotel great & our holiday so relaxing. Love the different restaurants & bars within the grounds, the beach bar is great for a late afternoon cocktail as the sun goes down & good for an evening meal too. Beds are comfy, bathroom functional, decor a little tired but more than adequate. The island atmosphere remains 'no stress' & the pedestrianized town center has some good bars worth visiting. Already planning a further return next year if all goes to plan :)
