So we get to the hotel late because of flight issues, we grab something to eat and ask for a cola light, reply is "that's not in the all inclusive" told to speak to the manager the next day, go to our apartment, (we have paid for a two bed apartment) and one of the bedrooms is locked, back to reception to get it unlocked, then there's no air-conditioning in the second bedroom back to reception again, you need to speak to the manager tomorrow. On top of that the safe doesn't work and the balcony door wasn't closed properly so we have a mini flood by the windows

We arrived with the late night plane - got there, and had the key handed out. We had pre reserved, and entered credit card details - but that seemingly did not do anything. Went to the room, the pictures are for sure taken in a different lightning and when the place were newer. The whole idea of picking a place with apartment style of renting, were to have the freedom of making food etc. As it were quite late, we went to bed - first thing that happens when I pull the sheet off, are 5 silverfish fleeing off the bed. I decided to pull everything off, and check everywhere for more. Displeased went to bed. We woke up, decided to check what was included in the "apartment style" room, and found out.. nothing - we had a bottle of water and 3 glasses, and that was it. There were not cutlery, no plates, no pans or anything like that. The idea of making your own food, and having the freedom to do so, quickly vanished. Breakfast is okay, just stay away from the boiled eggs is my suggestion - they overcook them to the point of being black. Getting what they make from scratch though, while you are there - is really good. Some of the personel were nice, some of them straight up arrogant and refused to even say hi or look at you. Overall - I cannot recommend against this enough, if you look for a good experience. There are so many, seemingly nice places around Santa Maria. Luckily I only stayed there for 3 days, and booked an AirBnB for the rest of my trip- which made all the difference. So my advice - stay away, find a better place.

Fabulous, friendly and amazing hotel . No, it’s not 5* but the service , atmosphere and food definitely is ! The restaurant has top quality dishes with loads of variety and something for everyone. If you like Italian or Mediterranean food , you’ll enjoy this . Never a queue and dishes were replenished when empty . There was also a gala night and another themed night . Tables were cleared immediately, so very clean . Lovely beach with comfortable sun beds and didn’t feel crowded. Entertainment was fine and the animation team were friendly and hard working. Not many hotels thank you for staying and give you a hug when you leave . Can’t say anything negative at all 😊 We will be back !

Best hotel we’ve stayed in for years ! Risotto is the best ! It was set round a lovely courtyard which was sheltered . The apartment was spotless and beautifully cleaned every day . The food was fabulous and was far better than the Tui platinum we stayed in last year . No battle for sunbeds always room around the pool and no saving of beds which was great. The beach was fabulous and a short walk down one street to access the private part with own bar . The staff are so friendly and warm

Nice location, but next time I would choose another hotel. Weak for 4 stars, the shower is moldy and the door cannot be opened. Meals are repeated after 3 days. The pool is small for such a number of guests, but there are enough sunbeds on the beach, the bar is also great, you can taste the local grogue. The work of the bartenders and animators is excellent, and now three things that disappointed me the first, before leaving on the last day, I returned to the room and my toothbrush was really from the soap even in the part where the bristles are, which means that the maid happily uses your personal things for cleaning, this is absolutely unacceptable and no one should allow this! Another thing is poorly described dishes, it would be better to translate them all into English or several languages, but properly! As an example, I will give "chicken schnitzels" while eating, I found out that among the schnitzels there are pieces with wrapped and fried ham. (someone could confuse it with undercooked chicken) and why is there another food under this name at all. Then also a weak current of water, but maybe that is the problem of the whole island? I would really like the hotel to work on these things in the future, because Cabo Verde is great. :) Recommended to visit: Santa Maria, water sports, Murdeira, Buracona, Buggy trip, Sharkbay, Zipline, Solinas lake, shell cemetery

Hi I booked a 3 bedroom ground floor apartment with 2 bathrooms through *********** as I was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and couldn’t do stairs and struggling walking I wanted to have a special holiday with my husband children and their partners as it would be my last holiday abroad this seemed perfect for us they assured us we had a ground floor. At midnight the day before travelling we received an email asking our estimated time of arrival and looking forward to seeing us The morning after we were travelling to Manchester we received an email saying our accommodation was cancelled we were on our phones firstly to *********** who were no help then looking frantically for some accommodation we booked apathotel tropical out of desperation when we arrived in a taxi to the hotel this was shut down as I can’t walk my husband and I had to sit with the luggage while the others looked for accommodation this took over 2 hours to sort we had no communication sat at a derelict building eventually got booked into Oasis selina who were brilliant with us but as you can imagine this caused a lot of distress for all of us *********** still haven’t been in contact with us which in my opinion is unacceptable. Also advertising hotels that aren’t even open it’s beyond me.we went to halos hotel to see what the problem was they were really unhelpful . Obviously I wouldn’t recommend booking here .

Halos Casa is not a 4 star resort. The pool and beach are definitely 4 star but the rest of the facilities merit only 2 stars ( quality of the food, poor decor and shabby lobby area)…..so a 3 star average. Breakfast is from 7.30 am until 10 am but arrive after 9 and there is very little left. On different days we found no bread, no tomato, no yoghurt or no juice. Ask and the response is…. finished!!!! If breakfast is until 10, then all food should be available until this time. We stayed bed and breakfast as we like to eat out in the evening. Our booking said the apartment came with a full kitchen but the kitchen was empty of all utensils. We asked for a kettle, cutlery, plates and saucers and were told, NO. We pointed out the terms of the booking but to no avail. Only when we went to our booking company who in turn contacted Halos Casa did we get them and this was on day 4 of our break….so unnecessary. If you only want to do AI then don’t offer B. and B. and a full kitchen.
