Best Hotels in Santa Maria Da Feira, Portugal

Wow. Where do I start. Firstly let’s talk about what you are expecting from your stay. For us, it was purely a business trip. We were using this place as somewhere to get our head down as we were going to be out most of the day. Location: the location of this hotel is awful. There is nothing around. The food they were offering on the menu was so little we decided to go out and find a restaurant. That was impossible! We were walking for 45 minutes (with no Road but I will get to that in a minute) only to find a time town with few cafes and pharmacy. No food anywhere. Now, to get to this town was the scariest walk of my life. There are no pavements. We had to walk on busy roads around bends and everytime I heard a car come, I just tensed up, expecting to be knocked over. The Pool: it was green, dirty and very very small. The food: after our 1.5 hour round trek we decided to come back to the hotel to get food, we were starving. We had been travelling all day. I settled for a vegetarian pizza, would have been nice if it was cooked, it was cold in the middle and hot on the edges. Whatever my husband wanted wasn’t available (burger, pie, meat pizza) so he settled for duck rice. Omg this was the most awful thing I’ve ever seen. The rice was microwave packet rice and the duck…. Well, check out my pictures and judge for yourself. The staff: I have to say, the staff were lovely. Friendly and eager to help. Drinks: there were probably, a choice of 4/5 drinks to choose from. Great if you like whiskey or gin. The room: the room was small, basic and mostly clean. Just very dated and very old. Overall: I know this is a 2 start hotel, so my expectations really weren’t very high but I at least expected it to be in a location where we could walk to get a drink / food somewhere.

O pequeno almoço é saboroso e a vista é bastante interessante. O ginásio é perfeito para o meu estilo e achei o quarto maravilhoso. No geral achei surpreendente, vale a pena visitar, principalmente nas alturas de viagem medialval ou perlim (festividades).

A hotel located in the center of Oval. Close to all facilities, 5 kilometers from the beach. Very nice staff. The breakfast was good and the room was clean. The price/performance ratio is very good. I recommend.

Idyllic, for relax**** and disconnect everything. Personal in great reception, all kindness. Full breakfast buffet, variety where to choose. Beautiful room with terrace, large and comfortable bed. I can't put sticks to anything from my stay there.

The room was very small. There was no chair, only bed, two bedrooms, the minibar and the baggage device, everything was very exhausted. Even the door frames were shaved. The TV, analogue tube of 12 inches, 4:3 of course. The room was very comfortable and the room was very comfortable. There was a terrace that was painted white, black, dirty and unscreened everywhere, two landless gardeners and even more dirty.

We were very pleased with our 2-night stay and will return as Espinho we wish to complete the boardwalk which begins close to the hotel to Vila Nova de Gaia. The weekly feira on Mondays is not to be missed. Pros: value for the money (a comparable room with ocean view in the Boston/Cape Cod area in July would easily go for at least 4 times what we paid), proximity to beach, town, and boardwalk, view from balcony, patient and accommodating staff, lovely breakfast, spacious bathroom with full-sized products (shampoo/shower gel/hand lotion) Cons: no air conditioning in lobby, parking is no included in the EXTREMELY reasonable price for and ocean-front hotel

The view from the balcony to the ocean was super beautiful!!! The apartment was very large and spacious. Unfortunately, breakfast (which we have booked spontaneously for a day) was unsatisfactory. There was no fresh vegetables, unfortunately no choice of bread, juices, sweeting or similar. The sweets have tasted well, the “rhetoric” and the very thickly cut “toast bread” unfortunately not. Even the coffee could definitely be better. The hotel was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was very friendly and helpful.

Sadly this is a hotel which has never hit its potential. In an area that is desperately in need of a decent hotel, this had all the potential. Sadly, one owner after another (it has changed names a few times since it opened about 10 years ago) have conspired to turn something with true potential, into an absolute mess. The last time I stayed here, the sheets were threadbare, and the towels were full of holes. You should not accept that from a 2 start hotel, never mind a 4 star establishment. The staff were equally disinterested. When I complained about the sheets and the towels I received the standard response ”we will advise housekeeping”, but said in such a way that indicated that this would have been a regular complaint from guests. At one stage, I asked to see the manager, and was advised that there ”no-one from Management is available”. I suppose that says all you need to know. Will wait for a further change of ownership before stepping inside this Hotel again.

This hotel was as near to perfect as it gets for us. We stayed as a family of four in a Sea View Suite on the first floor. The 2 rooms were very comfortable. Large double bed for adults and fold out sofa bed for the children. The bed was so comfortable. The block out shutters helped us get a great night’s sleep each night. There is a spotless clean pool with about 20 beds surrounding it. It tended to get busy later in the afternoon as people checked in but we never had trouble finding somewhere to lie. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice. We still had plenty to choose from after 5 mornings. The staff was brilliant. Especially the restaurant and cleaning staff. They were so considerate and kind. The WiFi worked well and the TV had lots of channel choice. It is a decent walk to Espinho town centre.but well worth the effort. There is a Continente supermarket and a McDonalds a short walk away. The boardwalk is about 500m away as is the beach. We plan to stay here again next Summer
