My wife and I spent five days at Hotel Palau Fugit late October. I discovered this gem on Trip Advisor. Situated in the heart of Girona's old town, the hotel was originally an 18th century baroque palace that has been renovated. The property is a stunning, creative marriage of contemporary and baroque architecture providing so many unique spaces throughout the hotel from the rooftop garden, the various guest rooms, to the hotel entrance and lobby bar. Our room was quiet, well appointed, exceptionally comfortable, and spotlessly clean, with large windows providing views of the tranquil inner courtyard and fountain. The hotel provides delicious breakfasts with fresh baked breads and regional food selections. My only recommendation is to upgrade the coffee provided. While I do not drink coffee, I noted that a few guests, my wife included did not like the French press coffee. We had three superb dinners at Casa Heras, the hotel's restaurant, which serves gourmet quality, seasonal, regional cuisine. What most distinguishes Hotel Palau is the excellent, consistently courteous service that is provided from reception staff, through housekeeping to the restaurant and bar. We look forward to returning to Hotel Palau Fugit on our next trip to Girona.
