Have been there a few times. Not within a year. Typical thousand trails campground ie nothing much there besides a cold pool.full Hook ups lacking, not a lot of room between rigs. For less lake cachuma a few miles away offer the Same or more for less money

I will do my best to never stay here again. On a map it looks like it is very close to Santa Barbara CA. It is NOT unless you consider being on the top of a mountain beside Santa Barbara "close". It is not possible to enjoy being a tourist in the area because of the trips you have to make UP and DOWN the mountain. Heaven help you if you end up running past dark. The road is so narrow they have big mirrors on the edge so you can see if someone is coming from the other direction. It's not safe! I don't know what the rains have done to the winding mountain roads since I was there last year. You'd better have satellite because no phone service from any carrier will work. No hotspots either.

Had reservations for 6 months. Showed up and there were 2 spots up top but they could not fit us as they were very small sites. However there were class B vans in big sites we could fit into. The employee at gate told us to go look down the hill. We took outlet car down there. It is a mud pit. The road down to there wash 1/2 washed out and full of huge pot holes. The sites we could have fit in have 2’ deep gullies washed out in the front of them and we would have dragged our rear end trying to go up that. There were also low tree branch in those sites so I am not sure if we could have been in them anyway. We went back up by the gate and saw some empty spots off to the side. We asked about them but the guy at the gate told us we could use them because they are only for people with horses. Funny because there is no color difference on the map nor signs that say horse people only. If it is supposed to be first come first serve then shouldn’t those sites count too? Or if they are going to keep those sites close to horse pastures for horse people shouldn’t they also keep bigger sites for bigger vehicles?

We camped for 8 days during the Christmas break. It was once again a good trip. Limited connectivity to the outside world but to me that is a welcome relief. We finally went to the little red barn they have there to see the animals and even though it was close to closing time Alexa gave us a very good tour and invied us back the next day. All in all a good trip.

Step back in time and into nature at beautiful Rancho Oso. Hiking trails, horses, stone buildings, covered wagons, tiny houses, cabins, pool and jacuzzi. So much character . The general store has a decemt selection of items.. The drive on highway 154 has spectacular views, close to Santa Barbara, Lake Cachuma, wineries and more . Loved it!

Always clean, well kept grounds and facilities. Staff always helpful and friendly. The daytime view and nighttime stars are spectacular every time! In 37 years (back to when it was NACO RanchoOso) this campground has never disappointed us! Thank you Rancho Oso!

This campground is not made for big rigs. You can make it but be vert carful when entering or leaving the campground the road is very narrow and some very sharp turns. When you arrive do not get there before noon and leave before noon to try to avoid any oncoming campers. the campground has only 30-amp service and the lots are small and on most of the lots if you have a large rig you will be hanging over the embankment.

Get away cabins are excellent. They are clean and well-stocked. I love staying here even when I am writing Christmas cards the whole time. I would like some opportunities to fellowship with others please.
