Hostal la Cigüeña

We spent 3 weeks at Ses Soques Apartments in Portinatx but we only spent the last night at the hotel, so I booked the cheapest room which was very clean, modern and had no view. If you are staying for a holiday, book a sea view room. Parking is a 7 minute walk away at Public free parking, we had no problems getting a parking spot during our June stay, but of course it's very busy on weekends. Breakfast is in Nui restaurant, with its lovely view and the selection was very good. Small pool with limited seating but we did find either deck chairs or sun loungers when we wanted to visit the pool area. Whilst the Hotel isn't well signposted Nui restaurant is, walk up the stairs and Reception is then obvious. Book a table ahead of time at Rebrots, it's the best restaurant in Portinatx.

The hotel has been newly refurbished and it was immaculate. The breakfast which was included in the room was delicious with lots of options and set you up for the day. The beach was nice and clean and not too busy. The hotel bar was bustling and had a great atmosphere and everywhere else was walkable. I would wholeheartedly recommend the place to anyone.

Location: 10/10 fantastic, directly facing the small bay with the most stunning views. There are many paths to walk around including seeing the sunset by the cliff, visiting the lighthouse e.t.c. San Juan holds a artisan market on Sunday morning. Local buses run to to Ibiza town and other resorts Monday to Saturday. A few mini markets around. Rooms: my room was big enough for two people I had plenty of space and my balcony was fantastic on second floor facing the sea. The bathroom had a great walk-in shower with two shower heads. Towels changed daily. Tea coffee milk sugar kettle available as well as mini fridge and safe. Very clean. Food: breakfast provides everything from continental to fried. There's a small coffee machine with fresh coffee beans which I used rather than the actual hot drinks machine. The menu for the evening comprises mostly of few meat/ fish dishes but overall mostly Thai, Indian and pizzas. Staff: very attentive, professional, kind like Leona and Toni at reception. They listen and try and help and they are so friendly that the whole atmosphere from holiday makers to everyone working in a hotel was very positive. Superb.

We have been coming to this hotel since 1999, not every year but very regularly until Covid; this visit was our third postponement and we could not wait! We were welcomed back by the owners and also the hotel staff, many of whom have been there since our very first visit. The proportion of returning guests is exceptionally high and deservedly so. We stayed in a first floor terrace room, always our preference. All the rooms are a very good size and the wardrobe/storage area is the largest we have ever seen, far exceeding that in several four and five star hotels we have stayed in. Also walk-in showers. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the location right on the beach cannot be beaten. We are not beach people but there is a small pool too, though I like the terrace best for sunbathing and people-watching! Residents are on a half board basis, the breakfast buffet is a very good way to start the day, we were welcomed by Loli who we first met back in 1999. She loves her work and was so pleased to see things getting “back to normal”. There is an evening buffet. The standard can vary but you are sure to find something to suit and it is good value. Or for a change try the a la carte menu - the food range has dramatically expanded since our last visit in 2018 as the nearby Chinese restaurant is permanently closed and the chef has joined the team at La Ciguenya. The food quality was excellent; there is a Thai menu, too, as well as the traditional Spanish and international choices such as pizza. The restaurant is also well-used by locals and holidaymakers staying elsewhere. The waiting and bar staff were lovely; Natalia the delightful head waitress has been there for 6 years; she and Kendy are very friendly and were happy to help me with my newly learnt Spanish and so did Loli.
