My husband and I booked this holiday for our first wedding anniversary and babymoon. As teachers, we purposely chose an adults-only resort in a quiet area, knowing we were travelling in peak season. Upon arrival, no special gesture or mention was made and we were informed that a deposit and a daily rate would be charged for use of a safe, that a deposit was required for towels for the pool and that the water in our room wouldn’t be replaced and that we should keep the bottles to refill at a fountain. We were subsequently given a meal voucher as we arrived late from an evening flight, which got us a disgusting cold bowl of vegetables from the buffet. We had requested a room with a sea view and instead were given a room with a view of a wall, car park and a derelict hotel. Our bathroom door was broken and our TV worked intermittently. The hotel is not fully air-conditioned, so some areas were like a greenhouse during the day. We saw other guests complaining about broken TVs and air conditioning units in their room. One lady was given a fan to compensate for this. There are no designated smoking areas so everyone smoked and vaped around a cramped, dirty and noisy pool. The toilets are filthy and there aren’t enough beds for the number of guests unless you are willing to reserve your space with a towel early in the morning, which we had hoped to avoid in a 4-star all-adults resort. The worst part of this hotel, however, has to be the food which was tasteless and incredibly poor quality. We have never been to a hotel where some of the food has actually been inedible. There were no fresh juices or coffee for breakfast and fish off the grill was virtually raw on the inside, which was not ideal at 23 weeks pregnant. Being in Ibiza, we expected a fresh range of meats, cheeses and seafood, but this was rarely available or it was unfit to eat. The fresh bread, however, was a life saver and got us through most of the week. We did try the á la carte restaurant one evening, which was actually even worse. The highlight of the hotel is the local public beach, which despite also being rammed with people, was beautiful with a clear sea. Twice our room was cleaned without bath towels being left, meaning we had to go to reception and request some after a day at the beach. The second time this happened, we were told we would need to wait 15mins until the maids had had their dinner before we could get these. We didn’t receive them until an hour later. When we enquired about a late checkout as we had an evening return flight, we were told that they would only be able to confirm in the morning and that it would incur a 35 euro fee. You had to pay to use the pool tables in the bar and the availability and choice of excursions were limited and expensive. When we complained to two TUI reps about our experience, one offered to relocate us to a family hotel at an additional charge. When we asked about rescheduling our flights to leave earlier in the week instead, he said the
