The Sandhill

A real gem of a hotel located in Sandown within easy 5 minute walk from the railway station and short walk to town and beach. The overall impression was of a quaint family run hotel and well facilitated, including an excellent real ale at the bar. Food was of high quality, well cooked and presented. Dave and Andy (Wendy was away at time of our visit) are the epitomy of outstanding friendly customer service. Thoroughly recommend the Sandhill for a stay on the Isle of Wight.

Our fifth visit to the Sandhill was greatly enjoyed by us and our friends. The rooms are comfortable and cosy. There is a good variety of cooked or continental breakfast. The bar is well stocked with a local ale and a good range of sprits and soft drinks. Dave, Andy and Wendy made us feel welcome as always.

Great friendly staff. Great breakfast. Comfortable bed. Very clean rooms. Great location only a short walk from the beach. A great location to travel around the island . Parking facilities are free. A nice friendly bar is open daily. Very good value.

What a wonderful warm welcome we received from Dave, Andy and lovely Wendy at the family run Sandhill Guesthouse. Our superior king room with en-suite bath and shower was spotlessly clean with the added advantage of an amazing view of the island. We were given a daily breakfast choice sheet which we completed daily. The full English consisting of sausage - pork or vegetarian, bacon, black pudding, egg - fried or scrambled - beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash brown with toast - white or healthy - Lol, brown! There was also a lovely selection of cereals, yogurts, fruit juices, tea and coffee too. We chose our options the night before and they were cooked freshly the next morning at the time you had chosen to eat. The breakfasts were outstanding! There was also a licensed bar to enjoy an evening drink. They also welcomed you to order food in if you didn’t fancy eating out or had had a long day and provided plates and cutlery. Basically, nothing is too much trouble! We can honestly say that our week spent here was made more enjoyable by our hosts. There is a little sign above the reception desk which reads, ‘Enter as strangers, leave as friends.’ We certainly feel we have! Thank you Wendy, Dave and Andy. We will return x

Just back from an amazing 2 night stay at this B&B with my daughter as a birthday getaway for her, and it was nothing short of amazing. The hosts were very welcoming, full of information. The rooms were clean, decent size and had everything that was needed. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and high standard. Nothing was ever to much trouble. The location is good very close to the pier, shops, takeaways. Free parking on site. It has its own lounge with telly and puzzles if you didn't want to be sat in your room you could be in there talking to other guests. It has a bar area for again a drink and socialising with others. It's a very warm family orientated place and 1 I was glad I stayed at.

This family run B and B is a fantastic place to stay. Wendy, Dave and the rest of the family make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. The rooms are immaculate and serviced daily, providing tea, coffee etc. There is an excellent choice for breakfast, and nothing is too much trouble, even porridge, (sorry Wendy). Everyone is very approachable and if they can help you they will. I definitely recommend the Sandhill Hotel if you are visiting the Isle of Wight. We will definitely be back. Hopefully soon.
