Paganakan Dii Tropical Retreat

What I liked a lot: Well situated to visit main attractions in Sepilok: Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre/Sunbear centre/Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), free shuttle bus to the main attractions (09h-14h-16) which was really great. Also offer tours at reasonable prices e.g. Mangroves & Firefly Cruise (recommended). Free water dispenser. To note: rooms are very basic (there is airco), we had some ants in the room, bathroom is outside. Breakfast was limited and minimal. When we were there internet was not functional, luckily we had taken local simcard before with unlimited data so for us, this was not a big issue. Before coming to the hotel, I had sent a mail to have info about tours they offered, but never received a reply therefore I had booked tours with an agency which in the end was more expensive then when I would have it booked with Paganakan Dii Tropical Retreat. Possible to book tours on the spot (no need to reserve before coming) but I did not know this in advance.

I stayed here for four nights and I could easily have stayed longer. This place feels like a piece of heaven. I had a beautiful simple cabin with a stunning view. Every night I could hear animals crawling and scrambling on the roof. It was really a unique experience! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially Sila. The restaurant had some nice food for a decent price and breakfast was good. Not a lot, but sufficient. There was always coffee and tea for free and they kept my snacks for free in their fridge during my stay so the animals could not smell it in my cabin. Their shuttle service was very good. It was easy to communicate with the driver if I was going to need his service when I was out exploring. And If I wanted to go elsewhere I was always told the price beforehand. I went on almost all of their excursions and can recommend all of them. If you’re looking for a relaxing cabin in the middle of nature this is the perfect place. I cannot recommend it enough.

Amazing views to wake up to! Hut was clean and comfortable. Very unique place just minutes to main centre. Lovely staff. The family huts are very quiet and peaceful and the air conditioning was a great bonus. Seeing an orangutan across the valley was an unexpected sight.

Highly recommend staying here! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have free transportation to the RDC, Sepilok Orangutan Centre, and the Sun Bear Centre. The staff was also able to help me get signed up to do two night tours at the RDC and provided transportation to and from. They can help with other tour reservations as well though I did not have time to take advantage of them. The retreat itself is beautiful with amazing views! You really get the experience of being immersed in nature while you are here. They provided breakfast for free and then have a simple menu that you can purchase from for lunch and dinner. The vegetarian curry and vegetarian fried noodles were delicious and the rest of the food looked good as well. The prices for everything were also reasonable and was well worth it!

Comfortable, welcoming, and truly enjoyable. I had a wonderful stay and made some wonderful friends here. This place is similar to a hostel, in which the eating area you get to meet all of the travelers and the environment the retreat provides makes it so easy to meet new people. The food was delicious and the sleep I got was unmatched. If you don’t get the reference then I will tell you I have gotten the best sleep here out of my entire trip. The views are amazing and you truly get the life in the jungle experience. This place IS a MUST STAY :)

Very relaxed place in the middle of nature. Outdoor shower and toilet with jungle view. Food was good and reasonably priced. The retreat offers free shuttle to center and can also organize tours (eg night walk in RDC). Friendly staff and positive vibe.
