Parador de La Gomera

Stunning hotel overlooking the coast and San Sebastian. Traditional decor throughout. Very nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds available (unsure if this would be the case in peak season, if there is one on La Gomera). No pool bar however. We did have an issue of building work next to our room during our stay but it didn't really affect us. Not an issue for us but the hotel is about 65m above sea level meaning that there is an 10-15 min uphill walk back to the hotel from the town.

A worthy holder of the #1 hotel in La Gomera. We stayed there twice at the start and finish of a self-guided trekking holiday in La Gomera. The location of the hotel is just fantastic - on a cliff top overlooking the harbour with gorgeous grounds and a large outdoor pool area. The rooms are generously sized, well appointed with good WiFi. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious for breakfast and dinner. I would have given 5 stars but on the first night my wife’s main course was somehow missed off the dinner order and so I’d finished when hers arrived. On our last night there were no such issues and the seafood was fantastic

Loved our stay in this Parador. (Español más abajo) We stayed one week at the suite in Parador in Gomera (October 2024) and the experience was lovely. The room was spacious and the views were lovely on the water side. The food (breakfasts and dinners) was excellent and the service was wonderful. Ricardo, Yubisay, Camilo, Virginia and Benito worked extremely hard and were extremely attentive to all of us (even when every person in the Parador showed up for breakfast at exactly the same time). Their patience is endless and they are always professional and polite. We were impressed. The front desk staff go out of their way to help and everyone made our stay just great. The location is superb. The room furniture was a little bit tired (the couch had some stains a holes, which should not happen, and the lounge chairs in the pool had stains in the foot area, which probably could be removed with a cleaner). The common areas were wonderful and beautiful! Enjoyed our stay a lot!! Nos alojamos una semana en la suite del Parador en La Gomes (Octubre 2024) y la experiencia fue maravillosa. La habitación es espaciosa y las vistas en el lado del mar son maravillosas. El desayuno y cenas son excelentes y es servicio lo mejor. Ricardo, Yubisay, Camilo, Virginia y Benito trabajaron sin parar durante nuestra estancia y fueron extremadamente atentos (incluso cuando parecía que todos los huéspedes aparecíamos a la misma vez para desayunar!) Su paciencia era inagotable y permanecieron siempre profesionales y educadísimos, una maravilla. Nos dejaron impresionados. El personal de recepción también fueron atentísimos en cada momento de la estancia. Nos trataron muy bien todos, siempre. La ubicación es estupenda también. Partes de la habitación estaban algo cansadas (el sofá con agujeros y alguna mancha y las tumbonas de la piscina con manchas en la zona de los pies). Dicho esto, las zonas generales son preciosas. Nos quedamos encantados!

The hotel is located on a cliff above San Sebastián, which provides a fantastic view of the beach below and Mt. Teide across the water that separates La Gomera from Tenerife. It is quiet and elegant that offers an old colonial vibe. Our room on the ground floor was large and a door opens out into the garden, which is well laid out and maintained, but planted with numerous invasive trees and plants. The beds were quite comfortable. There are many large rooms that allows guests to roam around or simply to while away in solitude. Of course one could take a swim in the pool. Unfortunately, the wifi in the room was spotty and unstable -- something that irritated us greatly. The handle of the door that leads out to the garden was wobbly and did not operate properly. The sofa bed was uncomfortable to sit on; we suspect it would be equally uncomfortable to sleep in. The bathroom was functionally restrictive, and the shower was narrow, therefore tight. Worse, it was moldy. The worst part of our experience was at breakfast. The room was severely understaffed, which caused tables to be left uncleaned after guests had finished and left. Meanwhile, guests who arrived later were left standing around waiting to find a table where they could sit and have breakfast. Food and drinks, clean glasses and bowls repeatedly ran out. Yet they charge 21 EUR per person for that quality of service, which we found outrageous. Overall, we did not have an enjoyable stay and our experience did not meet our expectations.
