This is without doubt the very best hotel in SanRemo. The Royal is on a par with the top grand hotels further along the cost in the South of France. The quality throughout is so high that guests are assured of receiving exceptional value… in my view, way more in value than the hotel rates. Whenever we visit a new place for the first time we try and stay at the top hotel and we are so pleased we chose the Royal. We always book a table for dinner on our first night at hotels if they appear to have a great restaurant. We did this the Royal expecting to die and elsewhere the second night. However everything about the restaurant was so wonderful, we chose to dine there again for asecond night at the hotel. The menu was superb, the cuisine was terrific, the service was fast right, everything was immaculate. It really was a hugely pleasurable experience as was breakfast. Breakfast at the role is served in the most elegant dining room resplendent with Murano glass pre 2nd WW floral suspended lights and matching cornice glass around the entire ceiling perimeter…absolutely stunning. This so complements the breakfasts which were superb. I particularly liked the vegetable juicer, I have come across these in hotels so rarely and it is a great idea. Of particular note is just how immaculately dressed all of the staff are in every single department including the dining rooms, at this grand hotel. I do believe the Royal staff are amongst the smartest I have ever encountered. They are all attired in well fitting, extremely smart outfits which are way ahead of the curve. When you see this level of detail on the surface, this begs the inference that perfection permeates throughout the property. After three days at the Royal I can report that it really is perfect. I must admit to being surprised as old around hotels in seaside towns are so often a little worn around the edges. Not here at the Royal! It turns out that the hotel is still owned by the family/descendants of the founder, hotelier Lorenzo Bertolini (see my photos). Built in 1872 in an erawhere so many grand hotels were built by visionaries (my family are going to another one shortly be in Reid’s Palace in Madeira) … if the founders were to walk in today I am convinced they would fully approve and be delighted. I just couldn’t fault anything! All of the staff, from the doormen onwards, are so welcoming and the hospitality provided exceeds all expectations. Apparently the hotel closes for a few months at the end of each year when they invest in renovation and improvements…and it shows. Even the pianist who played in the bar every night was excellent. I must mention two of the restaurant staff, Alajandro from Cuba and the maitre d’ who is in the photograph I am posting (Ivan?) however all of the restaurant staff were exceptional as was the cuisine. It really was such a huge pleasure to dine at Royal. My wife and I loved our experience and the hotel exceeded all of our expectations. The Royal is agorgeous

Lovely Belle Epoch hotel. Beautiful landscape and lovely interior. Room had quality bath products,a stocked refrigerator, and comfortable bed with great linens. The interior design was very pleasant and rather opulent. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will return.

A very special place which reminds of good old days with atmosphere of good service ,style and wealth. This is what you pay a high price for where we felt that the room does not give the same value. A non working coffe machine and blocked shower drain causing a minor flood swept our illusions away. Petty ?... you can say but with that high price and expectations ,the delivery has to be flawless . The breakfast needs a special note .. it was great . Come early because the que was building up.

I stayed here with my family slightly late in the season. The hotel and staff are excellent all round. A classic hotel in every sense. The bar is expensive as mentioned, so expect to run up a bill. But you will do so in luxury ! A fantastic memory created.

We never write bad reviews, as we think of the employees and the families depending on their work but in this case we feel obliged. We booked a sea view room (425€/night, there are two other room categories below this one). Yes, we could see the sea... beyond the roofs of Sanremo, as we got a room on the side of the building (room 509). But this is not the problem. My friend has back problems (he was operated twice) so we choose carefully the hotels where we stay. When he checked the bed , as he usually does, we were shocked when we discovered that the mattress rests.. on an old wooden panel! (see picture, it spekas for itself) In a 5*L hotel? Really? When we went to the reception we were told that "all beds in the hotel are like this" and the solution was to add a topper. Royal Sanremo is a member of "Leading Hotels of the World" and we have stayed in other hotels of this group so we thought it was a kind of guarantee... But this hotel is not worth being part of LHW at all. Avoid

We just spent an amazing 5 days at the RHSR and our kids are still talking about it. The oceanfront rooms have incredible sea views that are worth the upgrade. The hotel is truly a classic - beautiful and elegant the way true ***** hotels used to be. The staff was courteous and professional, always ready with a smile. The location can't be beat - steps from the bustling little town of SanRemo and right on the beach. The ONLY criticism is the lack of guaranteed beach access -- which is not made clear before booking. Offering only two chairs (and having to get to the front desk by 9AM before they all are taken) is a bit ridiculous after paying very premium prices for rooms - management, please do better! Otherwise the hotel is absolutely a winner and the place to stay on the Italian riviera. Highly recommend!!

The bedroom pillows are HARD & 2 beds put together to make a queen bed. DRINKS overpriced is to say the least. This place feels like 1986 decor, it was a 5 star back than & now 2024 at best 3 star. DONT GO HERE...way overpriced & a complete waste of our time....

Here for a second summer vacation. Beautiful , nice and clean hotel. Very good breakfast. Gym is very nice , has a new equipment. Pool is spacious, but sadly , children are allowed everywhere, even with their inflatable swimming mattresses, that’s really annoying! Not much respect for the adults . We also deserve some holiday and peace … This makes us doubt for a next years visit …

What a lovely hotel experience! We had a 5 night stay in a junior suite which has a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. The room was clean, very well maintained and modern. The bed was very large and comfortable, the sun beds on the terrace were sturdy and comfortable and the motorized awning over the terrace is a great feature. We had dinner in the main restaurant 2 night and the food and service was excellent all on an outdoor terrace overlooking the property and out to the sea. Breakfast was an excellent buffet in a well staffed dining room. The bar and lounge facility is large and comfortable. The sea water pool and the spa are well maintained and well staffed facilities. The property is impeccably manicured and is a short walk to shopping and restaurants. A taxi ride to the train station is 10-15 euros depending on traffic. We did a trip to Monaco by train and it was incredibly easy to navigate. Last but not least, the staff. Everyone, the front desk people, the housekeeping staff, the bellboys, the staff in the spa, the wait staff, without exception, were pleasant, helpful and very attentive. We were both so impressed by different small acts of attentiveness we encountered throughout our short stay. I give this hotel my highest recommendation. We will be back!

The hotel has a beautiful view of the San Remo sea. As you cast your eyes to the gently lapping waves you also notice the immaculate gardens & a beautiful seawater swimming pool . The Hotel is in an historic building but it is wonderfully maintained & yet has really welcoming modern rooms & facilities. The reception staff & indeed all the hotel’s personnel are very friendly & helpful. Many so called 5 star hotels describe themselves as luxurious, the Royal can justifiably take that title.
