Castrum Wine Relais

This review will be very mixed and I will explain why. This is the first time I actually have to leave a review like this. Let's start with the positive: - Amazing location. The place has a wonderful view of the region. - Hotel is clean and the rooms as well. Looks great. - Staff was helpful and friendly. To be honest, I would recommend this place but: A small piece of jewelry in its bad "disappeared"/"was stolen" from our room. We made the mistake of not putting it in the safe and it was gone when we came back from a walk. Hotel accuses us of just "losing it". They did say they looked for it, but it still never reappeared. Would not let us see the camera footage showing the hallway leading to our room without a police report (obviously). This is the worst thing that can happen in a hotel. It breaks the trust between clients and staff. The woman manager (I precise woman because I don't know her name) was called and came from Germany to the hotel to see us, but never approached us and actually let us leave the hotel without trying to reach out again. What a shame. We got nothing other than a "sorry" from the receptionist. We left looking like people who tried to scam them. I understand the trust in their staff, but one person can seem nice and do terrible things. I sincerely hope they get to the bottom of this and find the staff member who's ruining their reputation. I am willing to change my grading if they do that, or if the stolen ring is found and sent back to us. This was a high sentimental value item, bought with months of savings. In the meantime, as to prove that I didn't lie to them, and actually did go the Carabinieri to file a report, here is the report that was made. Like this is all I wanted to do during the weekend in my holidays. This sucks because the hotel was amazing. This ruined the experience and the comfort we had at the time. May this be a lesson to never trust that nothing can happen even in the most beautiful places.

My recent stay at Castrum was a delight. Over the course of the 3 days I was there I did the pairing menu and the e-bike tour - both of which were incredible experiences. The setting is perfect and very relaxing. It wasn't too busy - even though I was told they were fully booked, and the bistro offered a simple but very tasty menu. I'd particularly like to give a shout out for Camilla, who was very welcoming and accommodating throughout my stay.

A perfect place , for sure we will come again. Nice people, perfect food and delicious wines. Thank you very much.

Yet another nice stay at Castrum, we will come back for even more visits, not only for the wine but also the relaxation.
