We arrived late at night and there was nobody letting us into the hotel even though they claim to have a 24h reception. We had to wait outside for 10minutes until other guests finally opened the door for us. Inside we found a small note to call a number as the reception was not occupied. After calling that number somebody showed up who happened to be a bar men as they were short in staff (several people left at once) as he personally instructed me afterwards. To be fair he was very sweet and tried his best but had no idea about the operations as he was placed to cover the shortcomings in staff and ownership. We booked a double room with AC as these days the climate is very humid and hot in San Miguel de Allende. When we were shown the room I was surprised to see a tiny unit on the floor in the corner of the bedroom. I doubted that it was even an AC as it looked more like a cheap portable dehumidifier you buy on Amazon. When I read the instructions of it, it showed that it had like 6,500 to 7,000 btus, I can't really call back the exact number but it was halarious. On top it must be mentioned that the room had a small window facing a garage and another one in the bedroom that was facing the coridor of the entrance hall where other guests passed constantly and could even peak into your room as it had a gap between the window shutters. I didn't give any additional thought to it and continued the check-in process as we were tired and didn't want to argue and just take a rest. I asked the aforesaid person of where the terrace was so that we could enjoy at least the view of San Miguel de Allende as shown on the pictures and mentioned clearly on the description on *********** of "La Galería" before going to bed. Surprisinlgy I was told that there was not such a terrace in the hotel and those pictures were of the sister property where the room rates were at least 2-3 times of what we paid as he told me. This was enough. I decided that it's best to find an agreement with the owner to leave the hotel and requested a full refund as I prepaid the stay. The person sitting temporarily at the reception called the owner and he confirmed that I shall leave if I want and that I will receive the full refund. Meanwhile I called the customer support of *********** to secure the refund instructing them about the decision of the owner and informing them about the falls information of the hotel description and aforesaid other circumstances to make the owners aware of it so that this doesn't happen to other future bookings. The booking agent informed me that she needed verification from the owner but nobody would answer her on the 2 numbers and that she send out an email too. I was told by the lady that she will be on top of it and that I shouldn't worry about it any longer.
