Seal Cove Inn
4.7/598 Reviews
Found online, we stayed one night here. Actually stayed in the room in the pic. Really clean! Moss beach bluff just steps away. Bikes available(2?), self serv coffee, soda, wine, frige down the hall, gas fireplaces, NO A/C if too warm; Kevin brought a fan for us, and explained the meteorology of the area to us. Was still warm in our room. LIGHT, but pretty, breakfast included, fresh OJ; cottontails and many birds in the garden. No restaurant/kitchen open for more than breakfast. Bring a corkscrew. Restaurants located just south of Moss Beach. If the entire experience was brought to the next level and the owners spent more time on the ”attractiveness to travelers” of the place, the value would be better realized. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, but many caveats as noted in these reviews need to go away with the new owners. More bikes, maybe electric assist bikes, actual garden, so much potential.
Hotel 1550 - SFO Airport West

San Francisco International Airport Area
For the price, we were surprised and how nice the hotel was. The lobby was well organized, competently staffed and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well equipped. Hotel hired taxis to ferry guests to the airport due to a shortage of shuttle capacity. We would definitely stay here again.
The Millwood - A Boutique Hotel

If you were driving by you'd think, typical old-school motel. But management has done a very nice job updating and upgrading the property. They added security barriers with key access so their isn't a ”parking lot entry” to room like a typical mote. Hardwood floors, marble bathroom, faux fireplace, decent bed and linens makes this a good deal. One tip, there is a second floor on one part of the property, be sure to get either a ground floor room away from that or the second floor as the ceiling is very ”echo-y” and you can here everything upstairs.
Quality Inn Half Moon Bay-Miramar Beach
4/5100 Reviews
The hotel is on the edge of Highway 1, it is easy to find, parking at the door. Room facilities are ok, but there is a smell in the room, some pungent, when asked when leaving the store, it may be air freshener, and the other is the main road is still noisy. Breakfast is not bad, typical American style, bread fruit coffee yoghurt and the like.
Ocean View Inn
4.2/5101 Reviews
This Inn is across the street from the beach. From the room, and outside on a shared deck, you have a beautiful ocean view. Rooms updated and large. No elevator, at least I didn't see one. Staff was wonderful. I had a few room requests and they were taken care of before our arrival. Breakfast was decent. Self serve and individually wrapped. Ice machine in the room with small fridge.
Oceano Hotel and Spa Half Moon Bay Harbor

This hotel is worth every bit of its 4 star rating and the hotel alone I would rate a 5/5 on Tripadvisor. It has many suites with an absolutely wonderful view of the bay and small airport, especially at night. There are a ton of wonderful photo/facie opportunities from most of the hotel rooms and right across the road from the hotel. However, I dropped one rating point to give the hotel a 4/5 for a few reasons: -- Most of the local restaurants are highly overrated and over-hyped, and on top of that they are massively overcrowded at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the day. -- Most of the local shops are just about the worst mall-like beach tourist-trap shops you'll find anywhere. The first negative alone would be enough to drop 2 points from the Tripadvisor rating, but this hotel luckily has two excellent places to eat and drink right next to it, within 50 feet. One of those is a fish shack called Barbara's Fishtrap, which has vastly better seafood than any other restaurant. The other is Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, which has about a dozen excellent in-house beers available and a fairly full range of restaurant food, including more than just pub food. The exception on the second negative point above is one local shop next to the brewery, which is a nice homey privately-owned shop with interesting small items and clothes. It definitely does not have the typical beach souvenir crap, but items you won't find anywhere else. On the first negative with the local restaurants, you'd expect the in-house restaurant in a 4 star hotel (with room service) to be half-way decent, right? The in-house ”restaurant” is nothing more than a pub with pub food, exactly what the brewery next door is not. It's probably because they can't compete, but still, do something else. We walked in twice, looked around for 5 minutes, and there was nobody there either time, 3pm and 5pm. We just grabbed a menu, looked at it, and it was just random pub food that was likely all microwaved. But the room service for things like wine bottles, glasses, even champagne glasses, was all excellent, living up to any 4 star hotel. Needless to say, this hotel is great for a one-night stay on the weekend or something like that, but there really is very little to do if you stay for more than one night. And, two excellent restaurants gets old fast after two days maximum. Lots of nearby scenery if you're OK with relatively cold beaches like I am, but don't expect more than that and two places to eat.
