La Grotta Hotel

We stayed in a superior double with a balcony on the third floor, and gasped aloud when we saw the view. Jaw dropping! The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipped with a free safe, mini fridge, plenty of storage and brewing facilities which makes a pleasant change as many European hotels don't offer. The bed was super comfortable and we slept well and could hear no noise through the walls or on the corridor outside our room. The bathroom is large with a lovely shower, fluffy towels and free toiletries. Complimentary water in the fridge. The lift is very, very slow as others have commented, but we found this amusing rather than annoying. The staff are so friendly and it's obvious they want you to enjoy your stay. The breakfast was fab, served in a beautiful room with exposed stone walls and quirky art, we loved it. We found plenty to start our day, and the staff were very proactive at restocking. We were able to check in slightly earlier than 2.00pm and were able to store our luggage on the last day so we could maximise our time in San Marino. This is an excellent place with a central location and brilliant value for money. Yes, it's an uphill walk from the bus but so are most places! If you visit SM you need to be fairly fit to negotiate its peaks and troughs! Highly recommended La Grotta and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Not the largest or prettiest of rooms ;-) but the location is unbeatable. Its functional for an overnight stay and has a reasonable breakfast so you can't complain. You wont find it particularly memorable, we struggled to recall what the breakfast room looked like 4 days later. Its only a short, down hill walk from the last car park (if you can find a space) but it felt like a long uphill walk back after checking out :-)

This is a lovely little hotel, with great staff. If you book a superior room on the top floor with a balcony, you get the most superb views over the surrounding countryside and mountains. The lift is very slow, but we walked up and down the stairs to and from the top (3rd) floor, except for arrival and departure with cases. There is a good choice of food for breakfast, and there is easy access to all parts of the old city, and to other nearby restaurants for a daytime or evening meal. If you arrive by bus from Rimini, it is a bit of a walk uphill to the hotel, but as long as you are able to manage this, then it isn’t a problem. In fact you need to be reasonably fit to visit San Marino at all, as it is very hilly and you really need to walk everywhere.

Location is in the heart of the old San Marino. The hotel is clean, well kept and the breakfast was very good. The price was more then reasonable. The beds were of good qualtiy. The only thing was that did not switch to cool. Only blow. Nice shower, no bath. Parking nearby can be a bit of a challenge if you arrive during the afternoon. EV's will have chargingpoints on the paid parkinglots but the app is not user-friendly. And you have to move your car when full (but then there is no more parkingspace).

hotel is located practically in the center of old town. All conditions very good, breakfast very tasty. Hotel provided parking tickets for Parking lot (the parking # 6 is 180 m walking distance). Close to main attractions, shops, restaurants etc.

Great place to stay - in the middle is San Marino walking distance to all attractions, shops and Restaurant’s Situated up the top Great views from our balcony . We caught a bus from Rimini and stay the weekend You can do San Marino in a day nice not to rush
