Morgan's Rock pulls off an amazing feat of being a sustainable ecolodge surrounded by untouched nature while also providing the comforts of a luxury hotel. The design of the rooms is beautiful and allows the sun and breeze (which is strong sometimes) to circulate, which is a very unique experience. The bed is super comfortable and the water pressure and hot water in the bathroom were perfect. If you haven't stayed in an ecolodge before you should consider that there are bugs (including scorpions) in this type of environment. The few bugs that made it into our room didn't bother us, and our room was kept immaculately clean throughout our stay. The beach setup was a real standout for me, with more than enough shaded cabanas equipped with hammocks, swings, lounge chairs and tables for all of the guests. You can also order food and drinks from the beach. The water was calm one day and rough the next day, so be careful if you plan on swimming. The pool is gorgeous and an idyllic place to relax. There's also a shaded lounge area near the pool, which is a huge plus to take a break from the sun. Room selection is important here, as the villas are built going up a hill from the beach. The higher the room number, the higher it is up on the hill. I think our room (15) was the highest and the view was incredible. We saw the national bird of Nicaragua right outside our room in the morning, along with 4 white-faced capuchins who were hilarious. Our room was about a 15 minute walk up stairs and across the suspension bridge to the lobby and restaurant. The food is very good, but the menu is relatively limited. If you have specific dietary needs I recommend reaching out to the hotel in advance, as they are very accommodating. Junior was an excellent bartender and there were plenty of options for wine and cocktails. There is no store or anything within walking distance once you arrive, so you should pick up anything you definitely want to have during your stay on the drive from the airport. Our driver Jason kindly stopped at a convenience store that had coffee, snacks and drinks. The staff at Morgan's Rock are really outstanding and they made our stay so comfortable and fun. In addition to Jason and Junior, Abraham, Henry, Bismach, Carlos, Sylvia and Federico were all outstanding. My husband and I speak very limited Spanish and they were extremely kind and understanding. This was our second trip to San Juan del Sur and we'll definitely be back!

Go ahead and book it. You’ll be happy you did. It is a gorgeous setting. The rooms and villas work well to keep out any bugs. The AC over the bed works very well if you like to sleep in a cooler environment. The beds are lovely. You get the kind of sleep only found in a fresh air environment. We found the night sounds to be quiet and peaceful. The morning had bird and monkey songs. The water is a gorgeous blue with rocky and jungle coastline. The food is delicious and the staff is very helpful despite our limited Spanish. Shout out to Federico for grabbing us at the airport (super easy to set up) and Huber for making sure our stay is magical. The place seems family friendly but is large enough to have lots of peace and quiet for a couple. The grounds include a gorgeous pool and the coolest suspension bridge.

We stayed 4 days as part of a wedding event and were blown away. Morgan's rock is beautifully located overlooking the sea, the villa we stayed in was clean and comfortable (not to mention nicely designed), the food was excellent. The staff were all friendly, responsive and overall made our time there so enjoyable. Their committment to sustainability is admirable and should be taken as an example. Highly recommend!!!

Lovely hidden escape that feels remote but safe and welcoming. We celebrated a wedding with friends and it was festive, relaxing, exciting (surf lessons), and all with great weather and excellent service. Food is tasty, rooms well appointed, staff there to help. Thank you!

We stayed at Morgan’s Rock for over a week. The bungalows are breathtakingly beautiful. Our bungalow was one situated up on the hill we were able to hear and see the wildlife in its natural form. We were overlooking the jungle staring straight at the sea. Sea views in front and the bay to our right. We enjoyed our infinity pool during the day and relaxing on the beach in the afternoon watching the sunset. We went on the sloth and monkey safari and was not disappointed. We went hiking up the hills on foot and on horseback. The service was great and the staff were really friendly. Highly recommend a visit if you ever find yourself in Nicaragua.

5th visit, still the best place we have ever been and worth the slight hassle to get there from the UK. This is such a special place. The private beach is beautiful, I can never tire of it. The lodges are all goregous, you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle, with stunning views. The staff are kind, thoughtful and fun, and the food and drink delicious. Sustainability is at the heart of the business. Already planning visit 6 next year. Thank you Morgans Rock See you very Soon! Rebecca and Tabatha x

My family and I stayed in a 2 bedroom villa for 4 nights. The villa was spacious, well done and provided excellent views. The monkeys playing in the trees and howling in the morning were an added bonus. The beach was beautiful and clean. Meals were delicious and the service was on point. I had a massage and the experience was nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and enjoyed all of the interesting aspects of staying at an eco lodge.

My husband and I are at Morgan’s Rock right now and we love it! It opened in 2004 and this is our 14th or 15th visit. Our last visit was in 2018, so it had been a while and we were hoping it was still the awesome place we remember. It definitely is! I honestly can’t understand the complaints about the food. We have been blown away by how good it is. There’s nothing else around, so we eat three meals a day here and therefore signed up for a meal plan. The menu is not vast, which is understandable, considering how far the food has to be transported, and how few guests are here. The prices are not high and the food quality is incredibly good. My husband had a burger for lunch, and I had a “trio of tacos” (shrimp, steak, and chicken) and both meals were fantastic. Last night for dinner. my husband had lamb chimichurri and I had a beautiful piece of fish. It could not have been better. Prior reviews about the food should be ignored in my opinion. The bungalows are as beautiful as ever, as are the beach and the pool. The drive to get here is a little bit long and bumpy, but so worth it. We also enjoy the drive for the view it gives of Nicaragua, and we like to stop in Rivas for a cold drink and a quick break en route. This review would not be complete without a comment about the wonderful staff here. Everyone is friendly and polite, from the folks at reception to the housekeepers to the wait staff to the grounds keepers. Some speak pretty good English, but definitely not all. But that’s part of the fun of traveling to a different country, right? Many thanks to everyone we met at Morgan’s Rock who made our stay this time as memorable as all of our prior stays. I can’t recommend Morgan’s rock more highly. It is a unique place in the world, and in our opinion, there’s really nothing quite like it anywhere else.
