Mormoraia

We had a fantastic stay at Mormoraia! The property has the most stunning views of the Tuscany countryside. The rolling hills with vineyards, farms and olive trees just make it look so magical. The town of San Gimignano sits in the distance and makes a beautiful backdrop with its medieval towers. The staff were all amazing and went out of their way to accommodate our every need. Eugenio was so helpful and fun to be around. The rooms were decorated in a modern style with an old world feel. They were clean with comfortable beds. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning with delicious pastries and croissants. They would even make made to order omelets. The lunch and dinners were great as well. We did a wine tour with Julia and she was lovely. She explained the history of the property and all the details about the wines made on site. We tasted 3 reds and 3 whites and had a yummy charcuterie to pair with the wines. So convenient with the winery on the property. We also enjoyed the gorgeous pool. It was so peaceful and relaxing on our sunny days. This property is an hour from Florence and a great location to visit Siena (30 minutes away)or 10 minutes into San Gimignano. The only thing we would change about our stay was we would have stayed longer had we known how amazing Mormoraia was! We highly recommend staying here. We will be back!

The best thing going for the Mormoraia is the glorious views from the hotel. They are truly breathtaking! The hotel itself, meh! The rooms are small, thin walls, as we were kept up for two hours the first night by our upstairs neighbors constantly walking back and forth across their room. If you stay here, get an upstairs room. The restaurant is just okay, the service is bad. They do not staff enough servers, so you have to ask for another glass of wine or bread or anything. We had the steak Florentine one night and it was inedible. Our bathroom shower and sink would not drain, so while showering, I was standing in 3 inches of water. I give it 3 stars for the beauty of the grounds.

Perfectly romantic getaway. The service was impeccable, friendly and warm. The restaurant was everything you could ask for. Couples only - no kids, so if you’re looking a week away to reconnect, this is the place. The staff was gracious and the grounds and view were beyond words

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Italy and feel so grateful to have stayed at Mormoraia, via the guidance of our amazing travel agent Rene- of Grand Explorations. Mormoraia feels like it was taken out of a storybook about Tuscany. The gorgeous stone buildings, surrounded by rolling hills, decorated with grapes, cypress and olive trees, were living art. We loved watching the Swallows gliding from tree to tree, as the sun set, showing a picturesque view of San Gimignano. One of my favorite experiences was the wine tasting w Julia. We met so many awesome couple from all over the world, and tried 3 of Mormoraia’s whites and 3 reds— all of which were Phenomenal!! We ordered a case to be shipped home and couldn’t be more excited! It was hot the week we stayed, so we enjoyed the pool often, after a delicious breakfast, and loved being on site to relax and enjoy the scenery or make new friends. The local cats on the property were also very sweet. Dinners were delicious, fresh, and elevated in their gorgeous dining room and patio. We cannot thank the staff at Mormoria enough! They are Top Notch, from reception, to meals, to general help around the facilities, everyone was incredibly helpful and made us feel special. Extra special shoutouts to Erik , Stella, and Sam for their memorable hospitality!

Dear Hotel Management, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the recent stay my wife and I had at your establishment, which we chose for its advertised luxury and amenities, particularly the private hot bath. Upon arrival, we were informed by your staff that the hot bath was not operational and were instead directed to use the swimming pool. This was a significant disappointment as the hot bath was a primary reason for our selection of your hotel. To our dismay, we later discovered that the hot bath was, in fact, operational, contrary to the information provided by your staff. When we attempted to provide this feedback upon departure, we were met with disbelief and an unwarranted threat to involve law enforcement, rather than an apology or acknowledgment of the miscommunication. We believe that for the price paid, the level of service should match the quality of the facilities. Issues such as audible noise from adjacent rooms (toilets…), subpar breakfast offerings, and most importantly, the miscommunication regarding the hot bath facilities, fell short of our expectations for a luxury hotel experience. We hope this feedback is received as constructive, as our intention is to help you improve the service for future guests. We look forward to your acknowledgment of these concerns and an appropriate response.

One of the best properties we have ever stayed, I cannot believe it is only 3 stars it should be higher! From the moment we arrived, we had the best experience. The entire staff is extremely nice and beyond accommodating, the service blew us away. The rooms are stunning with a cooler, modern cave feel and views of the Tuscan country side. It’s a picture perfect view of Tuscany. You can walk the vineyards of the property and enjoy their horses and other farm life. The restaurant on site is amazing, fantastic menu options with fresh farm to table foods and a giant outdoor grill were they cook fresh steaks and seafood. The pool is beautiful overlooking the country side, very relaxing on a quiet sunny day. The property also offers spa services and tours of their wine cellars. Mormoraia also makes their own wine and olive oil, both were fantastic and able to enjoy on property. The property is a short drive from the town of San Gimignano to explore during the day and not far from towns like Sienna. There are lots of local wineries to experience tastings like Tenuta Torciano which I highly recommend. You will need a car to access Mormoraia but it is an easy 1 hour drive from Florence.
