Tenuta Decimo - Il Borgo di Mariano

Fantastic location with great staff! We spent 7+3 days here. The extra days because we were so impressed by the location. Super friendly and supportive staff, great apartments (we tried 2) and nice pool area. Would have been great to be able to buy fresh bread, and one minor comment that the equipment in the kitchens can be upgraded (more and sharper knives, grater, coffee machine)

Arrived at Villa which we have stayed at in the past on several occasions (5 years ago being the last time). Booked our usual deluxe apartment on the 2nd floor which comes with a kitchen. After being shown to our room with no assistance with the luggage up the stairs in 32 degrees in heat, I then had to return to the reception building and ask where the kettle and cooking utensils were. I was told that you have to hire these at 5 euros per day! Even though we had booked an apartment with a kitchen. This wasn’t so back in 2018, had apparently came into in 2020 during the pandemic. There was no mention of this in the booking confirmation! The kettle included in the kitchen kit for hire, was a small Italian style coffee pot placed on the hob and no good of English coffee or tea, only espresso. We went out a purchased a travel kettle to cover our needs. The receptionist was very rude, flippant and couldn’t careless whether we stayed or not. Towards the end of the week, we received an email advising us of a flight cancellation and had to ask if we could stay another night, this was offered in another room at an outrageously high cost. We had to pack our bags, leave our room and then wait for the other room to become available. When I asked if we could leave our clothes in our room while the next room was being cleaned, we were told no, but you can put them In your car or down by the pool area and wait 🤬. I believe the place is under different ownership as the old staff were far more helpful. And if you do stay, take ear plugs as two dogs bark all night long making a peaceful night sleep impossible. Personally we aren’t ever going back to this resort, and I suggest you look around as there are far better, don’t be fooled by the photos, it’s a nice place but it has far too many flaws
