Palazzo Malaspina B&B

My husband and I enjoyed a serene three days at Palazzo Malaspina ! Signora Maria , the gracious owner, greeted us and welcomed us to this beautiful palazzo . We arrived from Siena by taxi. There is no taxi service here, and we arranged a car to take us to Florence on our departure day. We were advised about a need for a car or other transportation in an email before our visit . We were fine with this , since we prefer not to drive in Italy. We leave that up to the expert Italian drivers ! All my emails were answered promptly . I always like to book directly with hotels, and the price here was very reasonable . Our room was gorgeous, huge ,decorated tastefully, ,and very comfortable . This was our 16th visit to Italy, and we found the room to be at the top with another favorite of ours ! Everything was perfect ,and the bathroom was too. Breakfast was included , and it was delicious with plenty of great choices. We joined a few other couples at the long table in the the large dining room .The huge windows and paintings made the room even more special . Mary along with Paola and Pequina were so attentive and truly lovely ! We definitely loved the ambiance of staying in this outstanding palace ! The morning we arrived , Paola insisted on lugging our heavy carry on suitcases to our room ..One afternoon we bought a nice variety of food for a light lunch at little grocery store nearby The lady there was so patient while helping me . Paola was so sweet when we she saw we could not uncork the wine bottle. ,She quickly brought us another bottle of wine and opened it for us. Palazzo Malaspina gives their guests a bottle of wine that is a blend of wine from local vineyards . It was really excellent ! Paola also made sure we had all the utensils we needed and sliced the bread for us too. She was so helpful and sweet .After making sure we did not need anything else, Paola left us to have the dining room all to ourselves, and we enjoyed a very special lunch that afternoon. . We were able to enjoy a wine tour and tasting at nearby Fattoria Montecchio . It was an easy 15 minute walk thanks to a very nice local woman who helped us find our way when we took a wrong turn . The people in San Donato in Poggio were very welcoming . There is a wonderful restaurant literally a few steps from Palazzo Malaspina . Antica Trattoria La Toppa was fabulous with the nicest people . A Pizzeria was also next door , but we did not dine there . We would highly recommend a stay at Palazzo Malaspina .We thoroughly enjoyed our tranquil 3 days in San Donato in Poggio . The place is as beautiful as in the photos! the village is so pretty! the bed was very comfortable, the host very kind and the breakfast excellent! The lady who serves the breakfast very polite and helpful highly recommended!!We will definitely come back!!!

Have no words to describe this property! Is absolutely amazing, location is great, the Borgo ( San Donato) is spectacular. The breakfast was delicious and handmade by Mary. Hostess Maria and Mary always was aware of our necessities in the hotel. Highly recommended for those who are looking for peace and rest in beautiful Tuscany!

We loved our stay Had such an amazing stay. Mary was so helpful in the mornings, and Maria the owner was lovely also. Great little town for basing yourself in the heart of Chianti.

This hotel was the very best experience we have ever had in all of our travels. We'd not been to Italy before and found this gem in Tuscany. The rooms were amazing and the staff was so extremely accommodating. The entire village was pristine. We just can't say enough about this B and B that is owned by a lovely couple, Maria and George. You will certainly not be disappointed, should you be fortunate enough to stay in this lovely home.
