My wife and I, along with my oldest daughter and her husband stayed at Ocean Park last week. We had rooms next to each other on the 3rd floor with ocean views (which I recommend). Naturally we're in the midst of covid restrictions and all that implies. Having said that... The rooms were great! A lot of thought has gone into even small details of the room design. One of those small details is the light switch on each side of the bed is easy to reach and you don't have to go searching for an outlet for your phone charger. As a matter of fact, the outlets have 2 USB ports. There was a refrigerator in our room. There was also a pull-out couch. The shower pressure wasn't going to penetrate your skin, but was adequate. Compliments of covid, you have to go down to the desk to order new towels to be delivered to your room. That isn't exclusive to this hotel -- that's standard operating procedure these days. The 'continental' breakfast consisted of a sealed paper bag with an apple, orange, a bottle of water and something else. The desk has them and you have to ask for it. They also have discounts for military and old farts like myself. Everyone, from the manager to the other desk personnel were very friendly. There is a 7-11 and other stores easily within walking distance from the hotel. The parking will cost you $20.00 per day. It's in an underground parking garage and you can load your luggage and take it up the elevator. The view of the ocean and the sound of the ocean when you leave your patio door open is outstanding. Unfortunately the sound of the local homeless population is something we contended with. Beginning early in the morning they are loud (and sometimes profane). They homestead along the wall below. They can be entertaining at times however. One guy we referred to as, 'Captain Jack Sparrow' had a pirate hat, a red cape and black boots like you would wear to a costume party. When we mentioned it to hotel management they said to be sure to contact them when that happens and they will call the police to deal with it. Might want to keep that in mind. Most of the local 'entertainment' are pretty non-intrusive. They pretty much keep to themselves and don't do cat calls at your wife and daughters. They didn't do any cat calls or whistle at me either. I may not have been there type. Seriously, aside from the early morning noise (I can only assume they are all mostly deaf and that's why they have to yell when they talk), they weren't much of a factor. There are beachside shops all along the walkway to shop at. Fun to shop at. The bottom line is, the next time we visit San Diego you can bet we'll be staying at Ocean Park Inn if available. If not for the noisy early morning chatter I would have given them a 5 rating. I will enclose some photos. Keep in mind the room was much neater before we started to 'live' in it. It's much nicer than the photos of the room would suggest.

PROS • Located near the beach CONS • Staff poorly training about customer service; antagonistic and distrusting attitude toward guests. • When alerted about the hotel’s numerous issues, the management company never took accountability; they were simply focused on profit and ignored repeated calls regarding any resolution. • Not a hotel: it is a hostel; staff is only at the front desk from 8:00 am to about 9:00 pm. If you need more towels, sheets, pillows, or if the toilet backs up and starts spilling sewage all over the floor, there is no one to help you. • Rooms are dark and gloomy because they are painted in dark colors and lack large windows, evoking the feeling of living inside a garage or basement. • Furnishings are spartan and uncomfortable. • There is no closet or set of drawers to accommodate the clothes of two people. You must live out of your suitcases. • Essentially, no parking (4 parking spots with an expensive per night fee.) It is extremely challenging to find parking near the hotel. Plan to spend 45 minutes to an hour looking for parking each night. • The websites describes amenities that simply do not exist: no complimentary water, no microwave, no clock, no hair dryer — nothing that makes a guest feel welcomed and special. • The hotel does not have an ice machine or food vending machine. • AC/heating system is loud, ineffective, and difficult to use. Bring a fan. • The TV and remote are very difficult to operate; limited access to channels. • The walls are thin and poorly insulated for sound: you will hear everything going on in adjacent rooms. • The protruding corners of the wooden-framed beds are razor sharp and can produce deep, painful gashes to your legs. The staff is not trained to handle medical emergencies. They even lack an adequate first-aid kit. • The hotel is located adjacent to a popular public gathering space; it attracts an enormous amount of traffic: you will hear cars coming and going, people talking and laughing, radios, and street musicians that play on a loud speaker late into the evening. • There is no elevator. The stairs leading to the second story had a loose board that posed serious danger to its guests. • The bathroom has very low water pressure. • The bathroom door (a barn gate) does not allow any privacy. You can see and hear the occupant. • Bathroom floor tiles are very slippery when wet; the shower curtain is too short and allows lots of water to stream over the tile, that places guests at risk for a dangerous fall. • Hot water is not always available due to hotel’s insufficient hot water tank capacity. • The bed linens are very poor quality — thin and very rough and can cause a rash on sensitive skin. • Over several days, the room was never cleaned There is simply no housekeeping service during your stay. • Unless you are in one of two or three rooms that actually face the ocean, the vast majority of the rooms do not have an ocean view. The only way to get an ocean view is to open your door and wal

Great location with a beautiful view! We arrived 3 hours before check-in and although the room wasn't ready the hotel gave us our parking permit and we were able to park right at the beach and walk around. The staff was super friendly and the room was incredibly clean despite the fact that the hotel allows pets (an amenity that we really appreciate!) Even though we only spent about 24 hours in San Diego, our stay at the Diamond Head Inn helped us feel rejuvenated and rested and like we had a much longer vacation!

AAnonymous UserThis is an old hotel with rich cultural background, all the staff are very friendly, the room service is timely and in place, the bedding and mattress are very comfortable, the breakfast is not to mention, the weekend menu will be replaced with the brunch menu. All the above advantages allow me to tolerate the only disadvantage of zero view from the window. Parking is valet, there is a cvs at the door, and there is a taco that ranks first in the United States within five minutes' walk, which is pretty good, but there is homeless on the roadside

GGuest UserA nice option in San Diego is close to the bay and close to Little Italy to have dinner (You must try Sambugers). There is a nice pool. The rooms are great, with a balcony and if you are lucky, you’ll have some views of the bay. The main issue is the “breakfast”. I’ll skip commenting, you can read some other reviews. I didn’t have a problem because they inform you before the reservation. There is a Starbucks in front of it. The check-in was not informative or clear at all. They pretend to charge an amount without any explanation (room + parking and incidentals) We have some problems with the room and the night manager didn’t hesitate to arrange a change (I don’t remember the name, but she understood the problem and work to find a solution). Thanks to her we had a great experience in San Diego, and we are writing a 5-star review

KKellydean1One of the most unsafe properties I have ever stayed in, surrounded by addicts and drunkards and other criminals, it was absolutely terrible. The staff were rude and for the most part we’re unwilling to even acknowledge those people staying at the property. The one night I had twisted my ankle and had asked the night manager for Ice if he could open the room where are the ice machine was locked, and he said absolutely under no condition. He said walk over to the mini mart and buy a bag of ice, I said please I need ice for my ankle, he told me to go away and stop begging because it did not suit me. I was infuriated and Insulted buy this impudent little weasel of a man. I am sure he has cost you more money than whatever wage you may have ever paid him. As a business owner I understand the losses an employee like this can cost a company, I am sure your business plan is not to drive away your clientele by insulting them. I won’t ever stay there again.

EEnglishTeacher朱丽叶Location was excellent for concert at Petco Park, took Uber and obviously was longer due to concert influx realized take a lime lite would have been faster. Walking expect 25-30 min and going up hill. Service was good at check -in , first night found roaches 🪳 under and around fridge area! Went to lobby for possible accommodations , encountered male fair skin and colored eyes, said they were from the weather (🙄) didn’t seem surprised to hear there were roaches in our room, asked if we can switch rooms- he said they were fully booked and didn’t have anything available which I didn’t even see him check. At this point couldn’t find room to check out for the weekend and left as is. Told cleaning lady that evening and she shared a roach spray to spray in infected area. We didn’t not feel comfortable in this environment and left our snacks and food in bags and placed luggage on our beds and desk to avoid roaches from getting in. Additionally had requested towels and when asked for 4 same lobbyist said 4 was pushing it and only handing two towels even though I had booked two double Queen rooms for 8 people!! Second room has stains on bed sheets and pillows, unsure what exactly it was but looked like blood. Friend got rash on arm and suspected bed bugs, checked sheets and luckily didn’t find any. Bathroom sink had broken handle that came off when lifted. Breakfast was good- early hours 7:30-8:30 , doors closed by 8:25 and you cannot take food out. But decent has French toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal and juices. Parking was small but have additional parking below , just have to walk around the corner.

GGuest UserI had not such a real relaxing time.I had been put in a hall way where the noise of anything in this area that was or happen the go through was very loud and noises from all around me were heard, upstairs the people possibly on back of room people from side of me and even laundry.I had been woken up with real loud steeping and jumping from the second floor.Ive never experienced being caught in this from hotels I stay and it will be my last.I don't recommend you let the front people put you somewhere strange in the hotel ask for second floor.By the way I really stay on higher floors then second I don't know why I was fogged about the front desk person convincing me that the room was special.Oh I know because she said she upgraded me to a room with two beds, which I think I had already requested anyway I'll think twice about this place. But if I'm in dire straight I'll neen the second floor please.
