Best Hotels near Nightingale Music, San Diego

No disappointment there... we weren't after a luxurious place, but something comfortable, clean and Located at walking distance to the beach. Nice pool and hot tub. Free parking and great breakfast. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. The beach only 10mn walk was perfect.

Adjacent to the sea, it is very easy to get out of the sea. There is a swimming pool by the sea, you can watch the sea and swim!

We asked for a quiet king room on the second floor for one night. Got it. Enjoyed a wonderfully appointed exceptionally clean room. Bathroom was a delightful surprise. Too crispy to try the pool. Staff was first rate. Price was oh so reasonable. Location: fabulous. Smart choice for us, and any travelers.

Our accommodations were excellent! Only 1 block from the Ocean. We would go to the beach & then use the beautiful pool in the afternoons. We had a suite that was quiet with a refrigerator & microwave. The staff was helpful & attentive. They have 3 hotels available & it’s the only place we stay in the San Diego area! The hotel is separated from the shopping mall by a wall, shopping is really super convenient, there are many parking spaces, there is no need to worry about no parking. Hotel garden style, greening is in place.

PROS • Located near the beach CONS • Staff poorly training about customer service; antagonistic and distrusting attitude toward guests. • When alerted about the hotel’s numerous issues, the management company never took accountability; they were simply focused on profit and ignored repeated calls regarding any resolution. • Not a hotel: it is a hostel; staff is only at the front desk from 8:00 am to about 9:00 pm. If you need more towels, sheets, pillows, or if the toilet backs up and starts spilling sewage all over the floor, there is no one to help you. • Rooms are dark and gloomy because they are painted in dark colors and lack large windows, evoking the feeling of living inside a garage or basement. • Furnishings are spartan and uncomfortable. • There is no closet or set of drawers to accommodate the clothes of two people. You must live out of your suitcases. • Essentially, no parking (4 parking spots with an expensive per night fee.) It is extremely challenging to find parking near the hotel. Plan to spend 45 minutes to an hour looking for parking each night. • The websites describes amenities that simply do not exist: no complimentary water, no microwave, no clock, no hair dryer — nothing that makes a guest feel welcomed and special. • The hotel does not have an ice machine or food vending machine. • AC/heating system is loud, ineffective, and difficult to use. Bring a fan. • The TV and remote are very difficult to operate; limited access to channels. • The walls are thin and poorly insulated for sound: you will hear everything going on in adjacent rooms. • The protruding corners of the wooden-framed beds are razor sharp and can produce deep, painful gashes to your legs. The staff is not trained to handle medical emergencies. They even lack an adequate first-aid kit. • The hotel is located adjacent to a popular public gathering space; it attracts an enormous amount of traffic: you will hear cars coming and going, people talking and laughing, radios, and street musicians that play on a loud speaker late into the evening. • There is no elevator. The stairs leading to the second story had a loose board that posed serious danger to its guests. • The bathroom has very low water pressure. • The bathroom door (a barn gate) does not allow any privacy. You can see and hear the occupant. • Bathroom floor tiles are very slippery when wet; the shower curtain is too short and allows lots of water to stream over the tile, that places guests at risk for a dangerous fall. • Hot water is not always available due to hotel’s insufficient hot water tank capacity. • The bed linens are very poor quality — thin and very rough and can cause a rash on sensitive skin. • Over several days, the room was never cleaned There is simply no housekeeping service during your stay. • Unless you are in one of two or three rooms that actually face the ocean, the vast majority of the rooms do not have an ocean view. I think this is a perfect location in San Diego. It's in PB, but a few blocks off Garnet. So it's not loud all night, but still very close to accessing everything by foot. While it's not ocean front, It's only steps from the beach. If I really strained, I technically could see the ocean from my window. ha. I was staying here alone and felt safe the entire time. The manager (I think) Jim, is awesome! One of the friendliest interactions with hotel staff and he made an extra effort to accommodate my early check in after I had a very unpleasant night at a different hotel and ended up leaving that hotel and driving around all night. The rooms are nice and clean and come with all the basics that you'd need. I will note that you have to check in at the ”sister hotel” and not Pacific Shores Inn. Again, not a big deal for me, but I can see this might be an annoyance to those that like everything at their finger tips. It's one short block away and actually I find having the check in at a different hotel kind of nice. It meant that at 11am and 3pm, there wasn't an influx of people parking randomly to check in and out... because they were doing that at the other hotel. The only advise I can give to the hotel is that it's not overly clear that you check in at a different location until you arrive and see the sign on what would be the lobby. This information definitely should be obviously displayed blatantly upon booking. Big bold print or something at the top of your confirmation email. Probably would save even the the staff some headaches of dealing with phone calls. The ONLY down side to this hotel is that there is a bit of a musky smell. I have stayed at the PB Surfside Inn (their sister location) a few times before and experienced the same thing. I have only stayed at these two hotels in PB, so maybe this is a normal part of being this close to the beach? I really don't know. I do live close to the ocean myself, but in a much colder climate, so I don't have the experience at home. But it does seem like it's a moisture/humidity issue that could possibly be dealt with via better ventilation? Again, I'm no expert on the topic. And given that I'm a repeat customer, it obviously does not bother me too much. Just worth mentioned if you have any sort of sensitivities to such things. I will 100% return to one of their hotels.
