Paying $40 a night, I expected basic things like a towel to be included — especially since my reservation said it was. Charging extra for that felt unfair.
Also, paying more just to be in a female-only dorm didn’t sit right with me. That should be a standard option.
The “included breakfast” was just some raw eggs, a few fruits, and you have to cook and wash everything yourself. I don’t think that qualifies as a proper breakfast.
The location is great and the staff was friendly, but overall, I don’t feel the value matched the price.

As a backpacker's inn, the hotel has ordinary hardware but a great atmosphere. Everyone I met in the inn greeted me warmly and friendly.
It is close to the beach and there are many surfers.
There is a restaurant downstairs and an amusement park opposite.
I especially like San Diego and escaped from Los Angeles. San Diego is the biggest surprise of this trip, with beautiful coastline with blue sky and white clouds and cute seals and sea lions.
