Comfort Suites Alamo Riverwalk

The hotel looks more run down than the photos portrayed. Homeless people just around the corner, and that made us a little uneasy... but they seemed to keep to themselves and posed no immediate threat. Wallpaper peeling in multiple places, shower curtain torn at 2 places where attached to the shower rod, wires under AC exposed and could pose a tripping hazard. The room is dark, with 4 lamps and one wall light by the door. The lamps just lit the room somewhat. The bathroom lights were also dull. Beds were comfy. Shower was nice, needed a slip mat though. View out the back windows was awful. And on Thursday nights and maybe the weekend, there's an outdoor band playing right next door, loud enough to keep you awake into early hours. Only 1 of the 2 elevators was operating, and it broke down twice on two different days. The staff was very quick at getting it fixed, and it seems this is a common occurrence with a note on the wall giving a warning. Breakfast was good, but bacon would have been nice. The staff was amazing, sweet, and considerate of our needs. If you don't mind "not new", then this hotel would be nice for you. Connie from TN Stayed 3 nights

My family checked in, brought our things into the room to get settled in. I immediately noticed the room had a very odd odor as did my children and husband. I began by pulling out the sofa bed and was mortified when the barely on sheets lifted to show a very stained and torn mattress. My son then used the bathroom and came out and was concerned about the cleanliness of the restroom. The property on the outside did not feel super safe and traveling with children with the unsafe feeling and lack of cleanliness we decided to book a different hotel and were unable to remain there the night much less for our entire stay.

There were many issues with the room however once I brought it up to the staff, they took immediate action to correct the things I brought to their attention. They are in the process of merging with another hotel and will be updating this current place. It’s not in the best neighborhood however the doors all are closed/locked at night securely. It’s about a 13 minute walk to the Riverwalk but I was under the impression it was only a couple blocks. The kitchen staff were very friendly, Anna was our favorite. After the pool was cleaned, it was nice and enjoyable. The hot tub was also nice after they cleaned it. The hotel staff was very friendly also.

Not a bad place to stay but if you want to go to sleep before 2 am stay somewhere else on the weekend. The venue/bar next to the hotel blasted music until after 2am and the hotel staff had nothing to say except "you will hear it until 2am." Luckily we had a sound machine that we could try and drown out as much as we could.

This hotel is WAYYY outdated and the entire 4th floor was FILTHY. The room was in complete shambles with peeling wallpaper, gross smells, trash left in the room, the entire floor smelled like pee. The TV had multiple channels that were 'Audio Only' and we were told by the front desk agent that the whole hotel was that way! The pool and hot tub are not like the photo at all. People were smoking out there and the hot tub kept turning off. The staff were kind and friendly, but not in the slightest bit helpful. And the homeless population around and right outside of the hotel was absolutely out of control! It is less than a mile from the Riverwalk, but do yourself a favor and pay the extra to stay downtown. The 100$ less per night is not worth it. (I never leave bad reviews. I am just generally very disappointed in this place.) Also, there is a bar right next door that plays music all night with flashing lights outside. Sleeping was not easy. And you have to pay for parking as well! 2/10 recommend.

Over all it was not bad. We only dealt with the night management guy with red beard and he very nice and personable. The 3rd floor and room had strange smell that was almost ammonia smell. The rooms wallpaper was peeling in several spots and the carpet did have a iron burn spot. The bed and everything else seem fine. If you need to stay in this area it was not bad and we felt safe.

Enjoyed our stay. The staff was great. The breakfast was perfect. Older hotel but still had lots of charm. Would definitely recommend.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. House keeping was prompt and there daily at a certain time; always kind and helpful.

Nice place. Breakfast was great. The outdated tub shower was terrible. Water wouldn’t drain. I won’t stay there again.
