Hotel Galeazzi

The gardens and public areas of this hotel are lovely, the staff friendly. However the noise from main road was non stop. Our room overlooked the front of the hotel and had no views except for trees directly in front of balcony (room 104). Supposed to be a superior room but we were disappointed with the size-photos are completely misleading. The balcony (large) needed a parasol and we enquired as we saw one on the balcony of vacant room next door but were told there wasn’t one available. The balcony was very open and popular with local birds using it as a toilet. The furnishings in room were tired and dated looking despite website saying it had undergone major overhaul 4 years ago. The shower cubicle was a joke (we did ask to be moved but to no avail). It was absolutely tiny. No trays for standing your shower stuff in cubicle. So ended up putting them on floor but that resulted in knocking the shower head out of position-the shower itself was like death by a thousand darts-painful. After a day out and about it should have been something to look forward to and it wasn’t. Worst shower we’ve been in. Breakfast was ok though the sweet outweighed the savoury. Hotel a 10 minute walk to promenade. Though a 40minute walk the other way takes you to Salò which is lovely-more choice. No atm near hotel apart from one uphill but several in Salò. Would holiday in area again but would not stay in this hotel. We didn’t realise hotel doesn’t offer snacks or evening meal so despite it tipping it down a couple of days, we still had to venture out to eat.

This looks lovely but don't be fooled. Our balcony needed to be swept - old cheese and bread crumbs from former guests. Kettle still full of water - okay I know I can empty a kettle, but it is all about the detail. The demonstrated care is easy to achieve. Bathroom ceiling tiles needed replacing - stained. The shower was tiny 700cm by 700cms no room to move without accidentally changing the water temp - tragically humourous in its own way. Only one (yes one) tea bag supplied - were they trying to save money? Room air con was effective, but noisy. Five Euros for a pool towel - talk about gouging (or nickle and diming for US readers). A preportedly four star hotel would surely have it's linen table cloths ironed - not the case here. The main road, at the front (which the hotel obviously can't do anything about) is busy and noisy - especially with motorbikers (who, like others enjoy the lake road). But it is also busy at night. Some nights had more traffic than others. Hotel guests (again outwith the hotel's control) also noisy. Unfortunately one to avoid. No idea how this has four stars.

Excellent hotel, very well located between Salò and Gardone Riviera. You can visit Gardone Riviera with a very pleasureful 5 minutes walk. We had a wonderful time in this beautiful hotel near Lake Garda. My family enjoyed every moment, from the delicious breakfast to the beautiful swimming pool. Our room was perfect for families with kids, since we had separate rooms sharing a bathroom. The whole staff was very friendly, polite and helpful, especially Sara from reception, which helped us plan an incredible boat ride that will be forever in our hearts.

The rooms don’t look like the pictures - they’re much smaller and the view isn’t worth paying for the trees block most of it if you’re not on the top floor. We booked a deluxe room with a bubble bath (which is standard according to the description of the room) we got a shower that wasn’t even a square meter big. After complaining about the room not being up to standard we got a different one the next day. Here we did got the bubble bath but I you wanted to have a quick shower we had to hold the shower head so I didn’t fall on our heads while showering. During the breakfast I asked the staff what kind of spreads that were presented (allergy wise) All 3 of them didn’t know. When we arrived nobody came to held with our suitcases (which we don’t mind) but then half an hour later a couple arrived in a Porsche and the staff even brought the trolley and helped lifting the suitcases from the car. It’s not because we arrived in “a normal Audi” that we don’t deserve the same treatment. The night guard didn’t speak English and was most of the time no where to be found. We didn’t like our stay - the services was below zero for the price we paid. The only good thing this hotel did was hiring Sara at the reception.

Lovely, old school hotel with amazing staff and a great location. They all spoke excellent English and went out of their way to help us (when our kids wanted to heat up some food in the kitchen when it wasn't open they helped us, they made sure that the temperature in the room was right at all times etc.), but special thanks to Akima and her daughter Sara who helped us with everything we needed. We will come back just because of this impeccable service, but the truth is that the location is excellent too. Lots of nice sights to see and restaurants to visit nearby.

I have booked this hotel for a week this month but they cannot be contacted. I have emailed numerous times but no response and phoned but they hang up when English is spoken?? I am afraid I may have to cancel & book somewhere else….
