We popped into the pelican with family for a birthday treat. We’d eaten here several times before and loved it. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same thing this time. Apparently it changed owners a month or so ago and it’s very noticeable. We went in on a Saturday and were told there was no - gammon, pies, steaks, mixed grills, to name a few. So our order had to be changed a couple of times. We asked for cheese & bacon loaded fries, what a ball ache that was. The scampi was rank, so I didn’t eat it. There were about 10 chips on each of the plates. Doesn’t justify the meal charge of £14/£16 There was also a cat that came strolling in and out of the kitchen. It was allowed to walk over all the chairs, even sat on a table. Seriously unhygienic!! Not to mention the vast amount of dust and cobwebs. When we went to pay the bill and complained about the lack of choice, the standard of food, the total lack of customer service. We were met with nothing from staff other a terrible I don’t care attitude. Not friendly, not welcoming, not polite and not helpful. £81 was spent and it was absolutely wasted. We paid £81 for very bad food, terrible service and a severe lack of communication or willingness to resolve our issues with quality & choice. We’ve been going there for some time, we won’t be going there again nor will we be recommending it to anymore. Not anymore. Very disappointed. Very unsatisfactory service. Wasted good money in here

Under new management and it shows! Before coming here we read the reviews, seen the photos and had doubts but we are glad we didn’t go anywhere else! Our rooms were perfect, if you’re used to 5 star hotels then maybe it’s not for you but one thing 5 star hotels don’t always offer is 5 star staff!! Jodi and Chantelle are passionate about this place and it shows. We actually felt guilty for how much Jodi ran about after us but nothing was an issue! Even our 5 year old spilling a full drink everywhere wasn’t a problem. The food! What a bargain! Top notch! 20 minutes from Stonehenge and a convenience garage nearby - everything you need. I can’t thank these ladies enough for going above and beyond. We have family nearby and will need to visit the area regularly so this will be our port of call. Thanks ladies for a fantastic stay.

The staff are absolutely incredible. My partner and I had a few complications on our journey and last minute, quite late, needed somewhere to stay for the night. Whilst we found ourselves in the middle of nowhere trying to find somewhere, the staff were more than accommodating and went out of their way to help us. I cannot recommend them enough and appreciate everything they did to help us. We will definitely be staying again in hopefully more positive circumstances on our side!

This was our second visit. Sadly they no longer offer breakfast as an option anymore. We had room 3 which is there family room and the beds are comfy and the room spacious. There is a fridge in the room which was great for storing our left over picnic and drinks on a warm summers evening. My only major gripe is the lack of soap in the bathroom. Great tea and coffee making facilities in room which I would gladly sacrifice a sachet of coffee for a piece of soap in the bathroom. Sadly I wrote a similar comment last time and I can see other reviews have started the same but sadly it's fallen in death ears as they haven't changed anything. Pity as this is a reasonable place to stay but they are letting themselves down.

Just a one night stay, great place, friendly staff, nice meal, very comfy bed! Only recommendation would be maybe some hand wash in the bathroom, only staying for one night didn’t think to bring some and would have been good if some was there.

As stated in a number of reviews, the room was very small and very dated..... a bit like a 'transport' hotel or motel. No soap or shampoo in the bathroom. Tea & coffee was available however and the room was clean. The pub doesn't open until 1230 so you have to use the Spar and garage next door for anything you may need. We stayed for Sunday lunch which we booked for 1230. The staff where completely overwhelmed and whilst very apologetic we actually waited 2 hours for lunch yet we were the first ones seated. The lady kept saying she would come and take our order but people were piling in and ordering at the bar. Food was very good. Ironically we were first in and last out! Would we stay again? I don't think so.
