Baymont by Wyndham Salida

Steer away. No parking*** due to construction workers and tow vehicles on site. Many construction workers stayed at the hotel while we visited. They drank and smoked in their construction clothes all around the facility, including at the hot tub. Watch your kids. Breakfast was basically curdled eggs, waffles, and dry cereal. We had to wait in line for waffles while staff members made their plates. The sheets and rooms were dusty and messy. We will NOT be staying at a Baymont again.

The customer service coming in was horrible. There were 2 women one was training. She did one group then another before she got to us. There was a line out the door. She should have jumped on the second computer and trusted her trainee to do the right thing. Help if needed. The room was dirty. The floor was black w dirt. There was a smell of smoke in our room. That was not pleasant. Then we went to the pool. Omg the pool was freezing. Not warm at all. We were shivering the whole time. The hot tub was out of service too. Wasn’t covered so anyone could have fallen in. The food was meh. The run of the mill food sausage, waffles, eggs, cereal bread. Nothing fancy. The hotel is kind of run down. We chose it for the pool so highly disappointed.

Did not find out until check in time that they had no water. It was 8 o'clock in the evening before we could even get a shower or brush our teeth wished we would've knew in advance. We would've booked somewhere else. We stay there often and it's usually pretty good.

For a reasonably priced hotel, this was good. The rooms were clean, in reasonable condition, and the beds comfortable. The breakfast had lots of choices including good waffles and above average scrambled eggs and sausage every day. Negatives: 1) My bed squeaked some each time I got in our out of bed but my kids bed didn't. Also, we stayed 4 nights and I was told would get maid service after the 3rd night which didn't happen. All we needed was clean towels as we lost track of whose was whose so I exchanged our used towels for new ones at the front desk which was no big deal. It is not like a fancy new hotel but I would stay here again given the price was reasonable. The best restaurants and things to do in Salida are in the historic downtown just a 5 minute drive away and Monarch Mountain ski area was 20 minutes the other direction, so it was perfectly located for our ski vacation.

We had no hot water for the entire stay. Staff was not helpful in resolving this or offering any solutions. Still waiting on “manager” to call us back….
