Barceló Marine Boa Vista - Adults Only

We had a lovely week at the Barcelo. Totally perfect for chilling. We had a sea view which was amazing but quite a steep climb, although Stella has said there are sea views without the steps just let them know when you book.The buffet food was lovely although for me not a huge vegetation selection (although again Stella did say to let them know when you booked. The hotel is immaculacy clean, the beds and pillows really comfortable and the staff are incredible, especially Apolonio and Jose in the restaurant, Stella on the front desk, Migel and unfortunately a name missing, but he made the most amazing cocktails and took the cocktail making course on Thursday 26th. A must is also the saxophonist on Friday evening and the Cape Verde experience with the animation team. In short, if you are looking for a full on activity week this is not the hotel for you, but if you want an immaculacy clean, incredibly chilled hotel with amazing staff, give the Barcelo ago.

I stayed at the resort from June 3rd to 10th and had a wonderful time – I highly recommend it. It’s a peaceful place, the buffet food is very good, and the fish is always incredibly well cooked (I’m from Portugal, and we’re quite picky about that!). I especially want to highlight the people who work at the resort – they made us feel at home. Particularly, the staff who are there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the buffet area. I’d also like to praise Stela at the reception for her kindness and professionalism. I have nothing negative to mention. If you’re looking for a slow living holiday, this resort will be perfect. Just a small note – on the last day, we saw a little kitten wandering around looking for food. Maybe consider doing like the Greeks and adopting it as a mascot! Thank you and see you someday.

not a 5 * by a long long way !!! food is really poor for Barcelo standard just lacks anything special on the buffet very repetitive each day. Staff are friendly and helpful but the place is in a resort that looks like there has been a war! Nothing at all outside the hotel so your stuck there! Everything wraps up at 10pm aswell so night life is rubbish. decent pool area and very clean. won't be returning! Bradley and the animation team keeps us entertained in the daytimes to get us through the week.

Just home from our first visit to Cape Verde. We chose Barcelo Marine as it’s an adult only resort. On arrival we were whisked to our ‘room’ on a golf buggy so didn’t notice the horrendous pathways !! They’re bricked and not very level at all, no mention of this when booking. If you’re less mobile it’s a bit wearying. But there are pros. Rooms were spacious and clean. Bed was huge and comfortable. Cons…no chairs to sit on inside the room, no drawers or cupboard space just hanging rails (which are so high I couldn’t reach as I’m only 5ft tall) looked very untidy. The pool area had plenty of sunbeds and parasols (which tended to blow over in the wind). The snack bar had various food during the day which was cooked well but in busy times took a while to arrive. The waiting staff were very pro active in providing refreshments and daily fruit kebabs. The main restaurant, was again, immaculately clean and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. The food was plentiful with various dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Different cuisines everyday too. Unfortunately not very hot when eating. The day before we left we did have trouble getting into our room so had to go to reception…they had deactivated our card early. Apologised and said it’s sorted so we could go back to our room. Alas, didn’t work so back to reception. Again apologised and said, sorted. Which it was (sort of) we couldn’t then use our bracelets to fob in and had to remember to take the room card with us which was a bit of a pain to be honest. All in all a positive holiday but not, in our opinion, a five star experience.

We went for my wife's birthday, 18 - 25 June 2025. We had a room with pool view, 104. A short distance from all amenities. They have tea and coffee sachets in the room but only powder creamer. Mabe take some coffee mate if you like extra. The rooms have their own hot water storage so no fear of fluctuating water temperatures when showering. Beds are large and comfortable. All staff are friendly and very helpful. Hats off to Miguel who was very good at organising things. TUI cancelled two of our trips while we were there but the hotel staff sorted us out with getting this sorted out so I would not book with TUI again I would see Stella, a very helpful young lady, who sits at the desk L/H side of the main reception. She can sort out excursions for you at prices on par with TUI and they don't cancel. The food was of good quality and varied. You can also have prosecco with your breakfast if you wish. The town of Sal Rei is a 25 minute walk straight down the road and the Chapel of Fatima is a 15 minute walk behind the hotel along the footpath. The TUI rep is like the Scarlet Pimpernel, very hard to locate. The hotel reception tried on numerous occasions to get in touch but to no avail. The wi-fi is good all over the complex and even on the beach. The waiters come to the beach and pool area to deliver your drinks. The sunbeds and umbrellas are new and comfortable. The wrist tags are also programmed to use as your door key, very handy. The A/C and the ceiling fan worked well. A really beautiful small hotel just right for chilling out.

What can I say currently sat in reception and I don't want to go home . Wonderful small hotel rooms amazing ours 304 overlooked the sea immaculate linen and towels bed the best ever slept in home or away pillows soft and lots of them .food plentifully always something for ant taste buds . Staff make this hotel nothing to much trouble and always smiling x check out the saxophone 🎷 player around the pool themed cooking and cocktail 🍸 making there too . Entertainment mostly music Nd dancing. Great big thanks to Joise and Elizabeth in the dining room Janet in the pool bar on an evening Marco the one with glasses who made us the biggest gin N tonic on our last night . Try the G nT with berries delicious . Don't come here if you want to be raving and falling over drunk . It's quite and relaxing . We will be back .
