羽根沢温泉は大正８年、石油試掘を行ったところ代わりに出てきた温泉で、当初は実際に石油混じりのお湯だったそうです。現在では石油は混じっていないそうですが、それでも一般的なアルカリ性のツルツルした泉質とは明らかに異なります。お湯に触ると何かネバネバした感じが伝わってきます。 特にこの宿とは駐車場を挟んで反対側にある、公共浴場のお湯は熱くて濃厚で、過去２回ほど訪れた事のあるお気に入りの温泉です。今回はそんな羽根沢温泉に三軒しかない宿のうちの一軒に、一泊朝食付きタオル無しの格安プランで泊ってみました。 結構規模の大きい建物は年季が入っています。現在は建物の一部だけ使用しているようです。畳を入れ替え、ウォシュレット付の共用トイレにするなど、必要な所には手が加えられています。普通に泊るには何ら問題ありません。しかし泉質に宿泊の価値を見い出す方でないと、ちょっと厳しい面があるのも事実です。 温泉は安全管理上の理由か、宿の人が寝ている深夜だけは入浴できないようでした。浴室と浴槽は半円形をしていて、男湯と女湯の浴槽は下で繋がっていました。もちろん完全掛け流し。公衆浴場と源泉は同じだそうですが、比べるとやや温めに温度調整されていました。露天風呂の類はありません。 朝食は時間になると、女将さんが部屋まで運んできて頂きました。ごく普通の塩鮭や味噌汁、海苔などが付く朝食ですが、味付けは良かったです。料金を考えるとこれで充分だと思われます。 温泉好きで泉質を重視して、且つ、あまり細かい事に目くじらを立てない方には、このエリアに泊まる場合、最良の選択肢になると思います。逆に、宿泊に雰囲気や豪華さを見い出したい方や、温泉の泉質にあまり興味が無い方、清潔好きな方は、初めから検討しない方がいいと思います。
