We spent 2 weeks traveling in France and stayed overnight on our way from SW France to St Malo. If this review was about the restaurant it would be 5 stars, the dinner was superb and the chef and staff should be commended. We know the French love food and the care, taste and presentation of the dinner was unique and exquisite. If the review was about the hotel we would however have given it no better than 3 stars. Other reviews list out the positives and we agree, friendly helpful staff, a small green oasis in a commercial area by a motorway, very easy access. Safe parking. Quirkily decorated, clean. We arrived at 4.30pm and sat outside reading in the sun in pleasant surroundings. For my wife and I it started a debate about are we looking for a good nights sleep or a cultural experience? I would hate to own a private hotel because the branded travel hotels have raised the bar so high. So where this hotel doesn’t measure up is in bedroom inves**ent where the branded hotels excel. No air con, (difficult to sleep as the room was too hot) only 3 plug sockets in the room and as one was for the tv and another for a light which was needed. Bed not up to best standard. Inadequate lighting ie difficult to read in bed as no bed side spots etc. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. No safe. Bathroom adequate and quaint but needs updating. Modest size room. Very average breakfast.
