We booked a room at the Akena Saint-Witz hotel on December 28 at 12:35 p.m. via the Akena website for the same evening. After a 4.5 hour journey, we arrived around 7.30 p.m. in front of the hotel. To our surprise, the parking lot was closed and the lights were off. We tried by all means to enter the establishment, in vain. We tried multiple times to contact the hotel and customer service, without success. We then contact another Akena hotel close to this one (40 km away). Our interlocutor informs us that a fire took place at the beginning of December, but to his knowledge, the hotel should have been open. He offers to call me back a few minutes later. After making a few calls, he called us back to confirm that the hotel was indeed closed. At 8:30 p.m., we found ourselves without accommodation, with two children aged 4 and 8 in tears, in difficult weather conditions (6 degrees), and had to look for an alternative solution at a cost higher than our initial budget. We never received any feedback or an official apology from the hotel for this unfortunate situation. This experience is unacceptable from a nationally recognized group, where we have stayed in the past. She totally ruined the start of our vacation.
