The breakfast variety and prime location with sea views and convenient amenities stand out. Guests praise the attentive and friendly staff, especially the owner's charming personality and Evelyne's expertise in cooking.

The hotel is in a great position with free parking .However, the rooms are very small with no wardrobe ,drawers or shelves .there was nowhere to put anything except a small rail that hung over the bedside light .The bathroom was okay but the hairdryer had been removed and disconnected and the hotel would not lend me one and were quite rude about it. Not a problem for us but there are a lot of stairs. The whole place smelt from the BBQ which was quite unpleasant .All a bit tired and scruffy.

Disappointing...disappointing because it need not have been. I want to be fair so am taking into account just a 2* Logis (albeit 3* prices). Will start with good points. Good parking, nice setting, air conditioned rooms. Bit of 'gourmet' institution...good food (especially if you a seafood enthusiast), good restaurant service, one nice dining area. Drinks a little overpriced. So why negatives and disappointment? I booked a 'bay view' room many months ago. Made effort to book direct so they didn't have to pay high agency fees. Met at reception by a rather surly youth. Went to room..see picture of view. Asked to be moved to front with a bay view as booked..he refused. Claimed fully booked all days we were there..not true. Stated could not re-assign as 'computer allocates rooms' not staff. So to the room. Lots of small issues that just added up. First friendly greeting is a notice about stealing..though given quality can't imaging why you would (see piccy). -cramped -2 unmatched cups, no spoon coffee/tea never replace -no glasses just two paper cups in bathroom one of which leaked. Placed in bin..never replaced -no small towels (reluctantly given 2 extra large ones) -the 90 sec shower. Didn't drain (I checked the filter)...so after 90secs flooded room. Nothing done for 3 days the most extraordinary sink (see picture) which you just had to run water continuously to use Odd given 'preserve water'sign next to it! Dirty sink, shower, balcony (see pictures) quite revolting toilet brush (too revolting to take picture of) Then what appeared to be an anti British attitude. We felt the room (which was probably the worst in building) was saved for British guests. Told breakfast was 8-10 am. First morning went down at 9.20am to another surly greeting. Obviously not pleased we were so 'late' and tried to put us in a corner. Every time we took an item it was then taken away. Noisily moved tables around us and set for lunch. Not a relaxing breakfast at all. Second morning was ok. Third they just deceided not to put air con on so sweltering. A further concern is security. One night out very late on a local dinner train. Was told rear door always unlocked. It was when returned. Thus giving open access to guest rooms.

My wife and I stayed here in mid-September. The hotel location couldn't be much better. If you're staying here, you probably came to see the Baie de Somme, and it's literally right out the front door. Rooms on the front of the hotel have views of the bay. It's an easy and pleasant walk to the main tourist part of Saint Valery. The hotel is also very easy to get to by car, and has free on-site parking in their own gravel lot. The hotel is in an interesting old brick building, and is air-conditioned (not that we needed that in September). That said, there are a few cautions. Probably the most important is that the hotel has no elevator. From the parking lot, you have to drag your bags up one floor just to get to the reception desk, and that floor it taken up by reception, the restaurant, and bar, so you end up dragging those bags up a MINIMUM of two floors, and probably more. This alone may well limit the desirability of this hotel to older travelers, or those with limited mobility. I can't comment on other rooms, which are probably different, but the one we stayed in was quite small and cramped, even by European hotel standards. In the bathroom, the placement & construction of the shower made it impossible to take a shower without covering the entire floor with water. While none of this would keep us from staying here again, others may have different tolerances.

The rooms in the hotel are pleasant and newly refurbished but otherwise the place seems quite shabby. Pot holes in the car park, rickety staircases, moss all over the dining room transparent roof, mediocre service, a very small bar area and reasonable food. The hotel is in a lovely location, on the promenade and close to the old town, but it could do with updating!

Stayed for one night on way back to Calais. Three of us in room 8 - we have all the same comments as a previous reviewer mark_n from June of this year. Balcony disgusting and covered in pigeon excrement totally unusable. Room smelt of smoke as there was a spit roast outside on the balcony and smoke must have drifted in during the day. Exacerbated my asthma within five minutes of arriving. Two towels for the three of us. A laminated card on the bed listing prices of soft furnishings that would be charged to our room if we stole them! Nothing I would want to take to remind me of that room thankyou. Air conditioning kept making a loud rumble sound periodically and then water would flush through the pipes so we had to switch it off and wait an hour for the rumbling to stop. Don’t use it if you would like a peaceful sleep! Didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food.

Stopped over night on our way south, as the hotel allows dogs. We had Apartment 1, which is separate from the main hotel but just a two minute walk. Perfect for us, as it was ground floor level, easy to take the dogs out. We booked to eat in the restaurant as they allowed our dogs to sit under the table with us. The food was excellent and the service really good. Breakfast was also excellent. The apartment was great, 3 beds and a cot, upstairs.p, shower room. Downstairs was a sitting area and a good kitchen, if you want to self-cater. All in all an excellent stay, we will be back.
