What a gem I discovered when booking at Chateau des Arpentis and all went from good to great the moment we checked in.
The owner of the Chateau went extra mile to always make sure we were enjoying our stay at the most.
We stayed 2 nights and stayed most of the time at the property enjoying the facilities.
Breakfast is continental but the quality is top and also plentiful to start the day.
I highly recommend to stay at Chateau des Arpentis if you travel to Loire Valley visiting castles.

WE ARRIVED AT 1400, AS THE RECEPTION WAS NOT MANNED I CALLED THE NUMBER INDICATED AT THE DESK. I HAD THE DUBIOUS PLEASURE TO SPEAK TO AYMERIC THE OWNER WHO IS QUITE A CHARACTER. HE TOLD ME OFF AS I ARRIVED BEFORE 1500. EVEN THOUGH THE ROOM WAS READY (INFORMATION FROM THE NICE CLEANING LADIES) HE REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE KEY. I THINK HE HAS NOT YET GRASPED THE CONCEPT OF HOSPITALITY AND READING THROUGH THE COMMENTS, IT SEEMS HE HAS A REPUTATION TO DEFEND. AS A TV PRODUCER HE WOULD BE MY TOP PICK FOR A RERUN OF FAWLTY TOWERS AND WOULD GIVE BASIL FAWLTY A RUN FOR HIS MONEY. WHEN QUESTIONED HE BECAME VERY CONFRONTATIONAL AND STARTED TO SHOUT. IT WAS QUITE A PERFORMANCE. NEVER HAD SUCH AN EXPERIENCE IN HOSPITALITY. THE LOCATION IS VERY NICE. CLEANLINESS IS NOT TO HIGH ON THE AGENDA. YOU ARE CHARGED FOR A 5 STAR ACCOMMODATION AND GET FAR LESS. FORTUNATELY, THERE ARE MANY ALTERNATIVES AROUND.

Gentleman who greeted us was pleasant. Property is incredibly large and had amazing character. Our first room had carpet that looked decades old, was badly worn, had the pile packed down and looked tired. We asked if there was a room that was available without carpet and they did accommodate us. The second room was fine but attention to detail was poor: Frayed towels, old bedding, burned out lightbulbs in bedroom and bathroom, tub/shower seemed inexpensive with unstable floor and hand shower mounted on magnetic ***** what would not point in right direction. Overall, was a reasonable place to stay but we had expected more for the money.

Beautiful building in lovely grounds but it should be more transparent that this is NOT a hotel. It’s a room only B&B. There is no place to get a drink, snack, no mini bar, no tea / coffee in room. There is a small salon with a coffee machine. Taxis / Ubers impossible so you need a car. It’s such a shame because with some basic hospitality this would be a lovely place to stay. We found it soulless. The towels also are very old and threadbare. The room itself was lovely. The breakfast was adequate.

Chateau stay of my dreams! Beautiful property, rooms, and ideal location. Laurent was very helpful and kind, and the chateau is lovely. Highly recommend!
