We recently stayed here and our reception was very warm - Peggy was welcoming and helpful. We upgraded to a Junior Suite, but the room was a double with an extra room on the side with a strange children’s seat/bed - which wasn’t of any use to us. We just used the extra space for our empty luggage. Luckily the bed was large and comfortable, but the walls were so thin we could hear everything going on in the next rooms - taps being turned on, bathrooms being used and every detail of people’s conversations, so we didn’t have great night’s sleep. Luckily there were no honeymooners!!! There was a sweet note saying that the building was old and had thin walls, but this was like nothing we had experienced before! Absolutely no privacy! At the end of our stay I had a really bad cough, and was so worried about keeping our neighbours awake! As it was an old building the note also said that it would take a while to get hot water - sadly the water never got truly hot, and I was amazed that there was only shower gel and hand wash - surely shampoo, conditioner and body lotion should have been provided - especially in France where the products are lovely and very inexpensive! We absolutely loved Ile de Re, and will most definitely be back, but I’m afraid not at this hotel! It was very disappointing!

We stayed here first about 15 years ago and decided to go there again and we loved it. If you want a relaxed, shabby chic place to stay in the quiet, beautiful and quaint part of St Martin, this is the place for you. It's not easy to find if you are arriving by car, but worth the effort in the end. We have stayed in three hotels in St Martin, and this was the least expensive and our favourite. its is a ramshackle spread of buildings round a lovely, very French central garden with places to sit an relax. Breakfast, which was excellent is served either on a terrace or in a quaint conservatory off the garden. Our room (15) had everything we needed and wanted. Don't expect the Ritz, just expect French country charm oozing with shabby chicness with a view over the garden. Perfect for us. And it's just an easy stroll to the harbour in what is one of our favourite coastal towns in France. Perfect! If you are planning a trip to the Ile de Re, St Martin is the place.

On my arrival at La Maison Douce Ile de Re, I was given a terrible room with no window. no.10 I could not cancel my booking as arrived late due to Ryan air delay and also by booking with *********** I was past my cancellation date. The receptionist gave me another room no.11. It had a window but as I was on the ground floor I just could not open it. The room was dark, lighting was bad, the electrical plugs seemed very ancient, damp and smelly of foul air, like something old. The cupboard also smelled of dampness and when I came home I had to wash all my clothes. I complained to two members of the staff that I was really unable to sleep properly and one of them informed me that I was not the only person who had complained. Yet Mr Gomez owner never rung me and offered another room. The shower was also terrible. I came back from the cruise on a Sunday and the smell was terrible and apparently it was due to the irrigation. This hotel needs real updating and would not recommend anyone staying in those 2 rooms. my experience was terrible. I have given a survey to Booking com and have asked Mr Gomez for some refund which he refused . found him very arrogant. I feel that I have been treated very badly by this hotel considering I stayed there 3 nights.

La Maison la Douce is a perfect oasis in the beautiful town of St. Martin De Re. Quiet, peaceful, friendly and with helpful staff, it is only a short stroll from the town. The hotel is a series of houses surrounding a courtyard. The decoration is unique, individual and lovely. The rooms were comfortable and everywhere was beautifully fresh and clean. The breakfast was excellent with a fine selection of hi quality products, the filter coffee was also very good. We not only enjoyed La Maison Douce, we loved it.

We stayed for three nights as a stopover travelling from the South to Brittany. The staff were charming and friendly, always smiling and helpful. The location is ideal in the centre of St Martin with everything a short walk away. The available parking was secure and only a short walk away - it was well worth the price. The breakfast was excellent with an early evening cocktail in the garden an added bonus. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and it’s lovely staff.

We stopped here for coffee and so impressed with friendly customer service that we wanted to leave a review. The areas of the hotel we saw were charming and comfortable. The shady courtyard where we had coffee and pastries looked a great breakfast spot. Worth checking this hotel out if planning a stay at Ile de re.

This hotel is delightful and intimate. The rooms are not massive but they are tastefully done and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is a short walk from the centre and yet quiet. The small garden is very pleasant and relaxing where you had read a book or enjoy a cocktail from the bar. Bikes can be left securely in the garden. There is a lock up garage for cars which is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. My Sat Nav was hopeless in finding the hotel but once you know its easy - park outside the hotel and unload the car and then go and park. Departure involves the reverse but staff and so helpful with the bags etc. In terms of improvements there were a couple of things - slightly bigger pillows would have been nice and a holder for the shower head instead of having to hold!

We had a fabulous few days here. Amazingly near to the port of St Martin and all the shops and restaurants but so tranquil. All the staff are absolutely delightful especially the owners, kind, cheerful and incredibly helpful. The accommodation is good value for money; the breakfast buffet great and the added bonus of covered parking ( additional fee) and an outside space for sitting are amazing assets on the Ile de Re! Thank you, we will be back!

This place must be heaven in Winter.. but its hell in summer . We spend few hours its unbearable . We did a check in.. and out within few hours. Rooms are not ventilated, neither with AC neither equipped with a fan . Even we took a superior room it was a disaster . Super hot, no air, can't breath, bad smell and no other option than to check out and find a other hotel with AC. Their saying parking available is true.. but its super far and headheack to park and to navigate in this small town that is not made for car. In my opinion hotels should have a central parking and electric cart to get their guest in and out so we won't waste time and energy to find the hotel or find a place to park ( count a good 1h30 hours....) Rooms are old, maybe some will like it.. but a full re wamp is necessary. cute but need improvement...
