Passionate about period residences, we chose this castle for a two-day stay. Upon arrival, however, we were told that for us there was no place inside the castle, and they accompanied us to a building annexed to the property. If they had informed us at the time of booking, we would have looked for another accommodation. So, instead, by giving up the stay we would have also lost all the money. It must be said that on the weekend and in a pleasant resort thousands of kilometres from home, with children in tow, we had no choice but to accept or obtorto collo. Thus, we were assigned a large room, in which hygiene and cleanliness were decidedly scarce. No service, the room was not made up, no TV or other amenities. The stay turned out to be decidedly expensive. The courtesy of the innkeeper is of little use if you then sell something different from what you bought, and for the same price. We found dirt in the bed between the mattress and the four-poster cabinet. Who knows how long they haven't got their hands on it. A negative experience during a trip in which we stayed in a dozen castles. The tree-lined path is positive. In any case, it is personal opinion that similar structures are not suitable for housing for figures over € 200 per night as required in this case.

We spent 2 nights at this fabulous chateau, with a suite in the 11th century keep. Absolutely a brilliant experience. Sophie treated us like family and allowed us to meander through the grounds, which were so peaceful and full of wildlife. This was by far, our favourite chateau stay yet. The authenticity of the surroundings and the passion and love Sophie and her husband have for the estate, make it truly special. Thank you for sharing it with us.

My family , myself,my husband son ,daughter in law an two grandsons went far a walk around this beautiful French town as we where staying nearby. We came across this beautiful chateau. We seen a man at the gate with pictures of the château.we assumed he was advertising the château. As I was walking towards him , he started shouting NO .all looked around to see he was shouting at my grandson. He’s eight years old . My daughter in law asked what he had done and he said he is throwing a stone into the moat . It was a pebble. My daughter in law asked her son say sorry, which he did . He still continued to shout as he walked towards us . This terrified my grandchildren. He said that throwing pebbles leads to pushing the wall bricks into the moat . I said my 8 year old grandson clearly was not going to do that . This man clearly needs some education in talking to adults and children, if he wants some business in tourism. I have since found out this is the owner. Stay clear of this château if you have children. I’m sure this is a beautiful place . But we did not get a chance to look around as we where where terrified to go in.

We stayed at the chateau to break up a journey whilst driving down south. . The Chateau is steeped in history, charm and warmth. Our hosts Charles Henri and Sophie, were welcoming, charming and so enthusiastic about the chateau, we even received a guided tour. We have decided to return to the chateau when we are next in France, but for more time than or one night stopover. What a find!

This is a magnificent castle. The entrance fee is quite affordable. The dovecote is superbly restored. You can take a lovely walk in the gardens. The owner is a passionate and fascinating guide. The guest rooms are very romantic and well appointed.

There is still much to be done to restore the splendor of yesteryear. The details often count. There is still work for future generations. The domain must be identical to the description of the website in its entirety. And it is not. Too bad

We stayed one night in an authentic, calm and exotic setting. The park is magnificent, the castle sumptuous. Its visit by the owner was a real pleasure. His erudition and his sense of sharing the history of the castle filled us. The welcome by the owner was warm and relaxed. This night was a gift from our children, their choice was perfect. We hope to return to stay in this magnificent jewel. Thank you to the owners for their simplicity, their kindness and their availability. Bravo for the maintenance of this immense estate.

Surprised in a good way by this amazing experience. The rooms are worthy of a huge castle that the owners have been renovating for 31 years, in their original state, huge, clean, good bedding and little touches. The park is rich and allows for beautiful walks. We feel free, we go where we want, beautiful routes for jogging and expanses of lawn for morning yoga. Lots of things to see around: very well preserved old stones, breaks on the banks of the Thouet, small restaurants and smiling and welcoming people. It is simple and relaxing, it is perfect for those who want to disconnect from the busy life and take a break in the middle of nature. PS: the bells ring at night and the roosters crow at dawn, bring earplugs just in case, it didn't rock me.
