Area Amenities:
The Tenants Harbor General Store, is open daily, specializing in morning coffee and pastries, corn, blueberries, native lobsters, fresh-cut meats, and all grocery supplies. It is only a 10-minute walk, or bring your bike for riding the winding roads and scenic ocean and island views. This is a pleasantly old and proud Maine community with its own library, school, and fire/rescue department. Knox County Sheriff's Office provides policing services. One-third of all Maine lobsters come from this county, named for General Henry Knox, George Washington's chief artillery officer in the Revolutionary War of 1776. You can learn about him on the peninsula, as well as enjoy programs offered all seasons at Montpelier, the Knox Mansion Museum, located just another few minutes in the nearby coastal town of Thomaston.
Heading another 10 minutes down the St. George peninsula is Port Clyde, another fishing village. You will enjoy beautiful ocean views while enjoying an incredible meal on the wharf and delicious ice cream for dessert from the local ice cream shop. In the heart of Port Clyde, you will find adventure waiting for you. Whether it's visiting a local art gallery, enjoying a day on the ocean with the Wyeth by Water Lobster Boat tours, or the Monhegan Island ferry adventures to see Maine seabirds, including puffins and American bald eagles, spending the day at the local Drift-Inn beach or a picnic at Marshall Point Lighthouse; St. George has something for everyone.
Here are some things you should know about visiting Maine:
Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.
Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com.
Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.
Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend.
Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided.
Water: Sailor’s Valentine Beach House is not on public water supply. It has a well, with a water filtration system, and is tested regularly once a year. Particulates, discoloration, and iron taste are not uncommon.
Sailor's Valentine Beach House is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This home comfortably sleeps 6 people. The dock was damaged in a major ocean storm and has been deemed unsafe by the engineering team currently working on the design for a new wharf. While parts of it may still be visible and appear intact, it isn’t safe to use and is officially closed off. The current listing does not include the dock as an amenity. While a few of the photos do show it in the background, that wasn’t intended to suggest it’s accessible. The current pricing also reflects the dock being out of serviceAbout pets:Pets allowed: dogs (limit 2 total). Please tell me about your pet!.About checkOut:Check out before 10:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About customRules:Check-in / Check-out: We have a strict Saturday to Saturday rental policy.

Everybody Loves Sailors Valentine!
We had a 16-month-old and his 73-year-old grandfather and everyone in between, and they all love this wonderful property. It’s as beautiful as the listing describes and it’s so well equipped and comfortable, it’s the perfect home base for exploring Maine. We love the chef’s kitchen. The principal suite has windows all around to frame the magnificent views of the water. Each bedroom has closet and dresser space, and its own bathroom. I could go on, but suffice it to say it was at least our fourth (or fifth) stay. Alas, we’re outgrowing it, but Veronika has another fantastic home for us to try next year. Thanks for everything, Ms. Bean, Veronika, and crew!

Vacationland paradise!
This house is not only immaculate, but extremely well-equipped with the finest amenities. A baker’s dream kitchen with high-end everything right down to the All-Clad measuring cups and Kitchen Aid mixer. Nothing was overlooked stocking this well-appointed home. We have never experienced a VRBO rental as nicely done as this one! Will be back!

Beautiful setting
The property is magnificent. Quiet, gorgeous and very private. We brought our corgi and she had a little lawn in back to hang out on.
Two minor notes to owner: we had to change the batteries in the tv remote in the LR and the right sink in the Master Bath was clogged when we arrived. If there had been Draino in the house I would have used it.
