Well what can I say……couldn’t find it to start with. Drove around a lot! Also Split over two properties, not ideal. Breakfast was a walk to main building, wasn’t informed of that! Take a mini as no where to park with in 200 meters, therefore dragging suitcases through the streets. Good fun I suppose! Rooms in house away from hotel were creaky and noisy , get the top floor as we had no quiet rest. In fact we just left and found a better hotel. Needed to get in character I suppose, we were a bit disappointed, pictures looked much better. St emillion was amazing, hotel wasn’t.

Walking around Saint-Emilion, we saw that there are a handfull of hotels. We booked Logis de la Cadene in advance, stayed during a month-long trip. Europe's temperatures were topping 100 degrees (0ver 37 C) during our visit. The hotel is lovely, personnel very welcoming and gracious. We loved our Room # 1782, which was on the lobby/restaurant level. So grateful for the A/C and a big fan in the room too! Bed was totally comfortable, this is a huge room with an equally large bathroom, a very good shower, a big bath tub and double sinks. Separate toilet. Windows look onto one of the narrow streets of the city. I would give this a 5 out of 5, but getting to the hotel with luggage really was negative, especially on a blistering hot day. But it would be difficult any day and impossible if raining, we thought. I'm surprised this isn't called out clearly on Tripadviser's synopsis. I didn't see this called out anywhere when looking at the hotel. We're both in good shape, no mobility issues whatsoever. If you get one of their parking spots, it's distant. . . . so distant that we found a space nearby our first evening on the street ($$$) to be closer. Even then, walking down a very steep cobbled ancient street with bags was perilous. We were surprised a hotel of this level doesn't solve this for their guests. Breakfast was good quality, fairly typical European breakfast. Their restaurant was closed the evening we were there, but we had one of the best dinners of our 35-day trip just up the hill at L'Envers du Decor.

Lovely hotel, but was disappointed that the suit I booked had a very old very uncomfortable sofa bed, with the worst mattress and they had put an old brown wool blanket on it. Also the pillows were extremely uncomfortable.

Lovely hotel, great location, wonderful restaurant, very challenging to access with roller bags/luggage.

We stayed at the hotel and dined at the restaurant in July 2024 and had a ten out of ten experience - nothing to complain about. So we went out of our way to visit again in July 2025 to dine at the restaurant. Sadly this proved to be an expensive mistake. We dined at the restaurant on the 18th of July 2025. Some of the dishes from the menu were great (notably the mushroom tart and the souffle). Two of the dishes however were terrible. The Langoustine dish was horrible - super mushy. We gave feedback and the chef had another attempt - slightly better but still awful. Having worked in Norway - he should know better! The main course was turbot - this got served with a sorbet on the side and the chef recommended to mix the sorbet with the fish. The resulting mixture had good taste, but the cold temperature gave the effect of fish ice cream - nasty! The wine package was super expensive - 450 euros for 2x people and yielded 5x very small glasses of wine. Poor value indeed. We also had to request that the staff clean our table after they ignored the olive oil and water stains and bread crumbs across multiple courses. The result - a bill for 877 euros for two people which I rounded up to 1,000 euros to give service for the team. Honestly - I could dine in many other restaurants for 300 euros and have a much better dining experience. I suggest extreme caution based on our latest visit. Next time we will try somewhere else! I'm pretty sure that this business will ultimately fail if they keep delivering the experience that we received tonight. Michelin star prices but major failure to deliver on food quality and service.
