Dead & alive ladybugs, One in the bed. Sheets not changed. Fitted sheet missing. A non-functional lamp and coffee maker. It's clear that no one had cleaned this room for a long time. The staff wanted to help.

Hotel Le Couvent is located about 10 km north of the highway, an hour west of Quebec City. The drive north is complete forestry, and you’ll wonder where the heck you are, but then the forest opens up to a tiny little bridge, in this tiny little French village of Saint-Casimir. Hotel Le Couvent is 2 mins from the bridge, and is a converted convent, which was then converted into an elementary school, and then converted into a hotel. We checked in at about 11pm, and no one was at the front desk, but I found a crowd of people in the back room (possibly a converted bar?), so a lady checked us in. Our room was located on a higher floor with the old church. When we got in the room, we realised it only slept 3 (a double bed, and a single), but we are 4. We also noticed there wasn’t a bathroom. Both of these surprises, were not pleasant! I went back down to the main floor, and the lady told me that’s the room I had booked. When I pulled up my email, we confirmed I booked a room for 4, however not one with a bathroom (I didn’t realise this is something I needed to look for!!!). Anyway, the lady was super nice about the situation, and did change our room to the largest one they had, room 200 Famille Champagne. I had to pay an additional $10, but I was ok with that. Overall, the room was fine for one night. It was huge, with 2 queen beds, a rocking chair, and a table with chairs. There was 2 closets, and 2 large windows. You could totally picture it as a classroom! It was tiled, which was weird though, so we kept our shoes on. We checked out at 9am, so we weren’t there for very long. For one night, it was fine, especially considering the cost, it was waaaay less then most places outside of Quebec City, and we just needed a place to crash on our way back to Toronto from the East Coast. I’d be willing to stay here again, but I’d make sure I get a room with a bathroom. If you need to save the money though, the room without the bathroom was still quite large, and there is a common bathroom/shower area available. If I didn’t have kids, I wouldn’t have cared as much, as I’ve stayed in hostels in the past, but there was no way they were going to use that bathroom in the middle of the night during their midnight pee! Lol.

Perfect! We needed a good bed in a quiet environment. It was perfect. We were out of season with almost no residents at the hotel, only 4 rooms occupied in this former 5-story convent. We still felt all the calm of the occupants of this magnificent building for more than a century.

The hotel canceled our reservation several weeks after we booked and received confirmation of our reservation. We therefore had to cancel our planned weekend months in advance due to the hotel's lack of professionalism.
