Stop Sarana bashing on Trip Advisor! I am appalled by the lack of kindness from guests of a hotel that has just opened. We stayed 2 nights with family over Christmas in this new hotel located at the foot of the cliffs of the Salazie cirque, before continuing our stay in Reunion at the Palm Hôtel & Spa in Petite Ile and at the Blue Margouillat in Saint-Leu. Suffice it to say that we are demanding customers... By booking at Sarana a year ago, we knew that we were taking the risk of wiping the plaster from an opening. And there were casts. But the fundamentals are in place. First, the location is strategic. The hotel is located equidistant from Hell-Bourg and the Col des Bœufs, respective starting points for the legendary hikes in the Bélouve forest and the Mafate cirque. From Saint-André, the access road winds along the bottom of the valley, passing the Cascade Blanche and the Cascade du Voile de La Mariée. When you arrive from Paris, you are immediately immersed in the radiant beauty of Reunion Island. The site is remarkable. The hotel is located on gently sloping land facing the green cliffs of the Salazie cirque, which we never tire of admiring from the room terrace or from the swimming pool. A peaceful, serene and calm atmosphere emerges. Then the hotel is very well designed. Certainly, the architecture is very contemporary, with two-story buildings in an arc around bare land whose plants have not yet given their full potential. But it was built with natural stones and wood that try to bring it closer to the aesthetics of mountain chalets. All rooms have a balcony or terrace with superb mountain views. The swimming pool is built in natural stone. For the holidays, it housed a superb Christmas tree. We stayed in the villa and two very spacious suites, on one level, in front of the swimming pool. The villa includes an outdoor shower and a very stylish private stone jacuzzi with mountain views. On the other hand, it is divided into two buildings, which makes the use of the lounge non-functional. The furniture, decoration and equipment are too simple: a single cupboard for two people, no suitcase rack, bedding that is too soft, no USB socket, only one electrical socket at the bedside. And the amenities provided are ridiculous: no soap, but a single tube of shower gel for the sink, the bathtub and the outdoor shower. No toothbrush. We are moving away from the standards of a 4 star here. The final bouquet? A faulty smoke detector, suddenly emitting a shrill noise at 10 p.m. But the hotel technician intervened quickly to… disconnect the detectors in all the rooms. The catering is generally of a good standard, orchestrated by a chef and a pastry chef, essential for good desserts. For Christmas Eve, the host
