I was in town for a conference at this hotel and decided to stay here for convenience. Front desk staff were, for the most part, delightful for the entire four nights I stayed. My room was spacious with a semi decent view and a mini terrace, though the door didn’t actually open more than a few inches, so one couldn’t avail of the terrace itself… that being said, it was nice to be able to get fresh air into the room! The TV in the room was huge and I am always grateful for a mini fridge, though I couldn’t get this one very cold. One thing that did leave a lot to be desired was the general cleanliness of my room, which I will give 3/5. The vacuuming was very poor (there were remnants of a previous guest’s food on the floor) and layers of heavy dust in the bathroom. It could definitely do with a deep clean! I also used the guest microwaves in the lobby on several occasions — both were filthy with splattered food (gross) and neither had a turntable. Another disappointment was one staff member (who was in the middle of training a new front desk member) — everyone was lovely except for her, when I asked the possibility of a late checkout on my final day. Her response was curt and quite rude: “I can’t tell you if you can or cannot get a late checkout. You have to understand our housekeeping needs and availability. You have to understand there are a lot of guests who will probably be asking the same thing…”. Coming from a customer service background myself, one should NEVER tell a guest what they “need to understand” — there are far better ways to explain this. She also never once said anything along the lines of “I’m sorry, this might not be possible” … it was just poor customer service, which was a shame. This aside, the hotel was very quiet and I slept well (and deeply) each night. Oh, and I got locked out of my room on the day I was checking out — it turns out the battery had died in my door lock, so the front desk staff had to call security, who then called maintenance. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait too long and both security and maintenance were super fabulous and quick to fix the issue. PS If you do decide to stay here, I hope you get as much of a giggle out of the elevator constantly saying “going down” as I did! :) PPS Location was excellent!

A Cool place to stay and good experience but nothing in my room worked. The outlets and usb did not work and could not plug my phone in. The tv was not clear and fuzzy. The hotel phone in the room did not work. The room did not have a blanket. The bathroom needed a good cleaning. The girl who checked us in was not not helpful and didn’t know about the hotel. She also told us to come back for ice then said she was the only one there and could not get it and told us to walk to the bar. The guy at the bar didn’t seem happy to leave the bar to get the ice. The food was good and the dinning staff was amazing.

Company holiday party was held a couple of blocks away so location was perfect. We were checking in at the front desk (6:04 pm)and the Hotel Registration Clerk said that ”Happy Hour” had just ended (6:00 pm). She asked if we would like a glass of wine (part of Happy Hour). We said ”yes” and less than 5 minutes later we both had glasses of a quite good Pinot Noir (red). The same Registration Clerk also had the extra pillows i had requested delivered to the room shortly after we entered our room. The room was tastefully decorated in muted grey & red tones and the mini bar was fully stocked. There were soft jersey robes to lounge in. In addition to the robes the room contained a yoga mat, reusable water bottles, wine bottle opener & other assorted items for sale if you were interested. The room was extremely quiet which considering all of the construction going on in the area was welcomed. All in all I would give the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel 4.75/5 stars. The .25 deduction was due to the extra firm mattress on the bed. The mattress was so firm that it was not comfortable for side sleepers.

Comfortable room. Friendly, helpful staff. Best location in Sacramento. Everything is walkable. Good government rate. This is an old, 1970s building that has not been renovated since construction. The windows are original material. They do not seal. The room is a yellowish beige. There might be only two electrical plugs in the entire room, but none by the bed. Doors are original wooden material. Air conditioning keeps the room cool but not without a racket. I spent two days here in June. I slept comfortably. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Had parking been free this would be a four-star review.

In addition to breakfast, sausages, eggs, waffles, buns, cereals, milk, coffee, and fruit, as well as gourmet food made on-site, good food! The most want to say is that here and the Hilton on the edge of the airport, not comparable, but the price is almost! If you rent a car, get together for 10 minutes. The suite is two TVs, but watching TV sleeps does not interfere with each other! The bridge outside the window is golden! There is a microwave in the refrigerator, but it is not big.

Traumatizing experience do not stay Who likes to be woken up at 6:30 in the morning? How about being woken up by the sound of your door opening? We’ll that’s what happened to me on Oct 17. At 6:30am I am woken up by the sound of my hotel door opening. I sprint towards the door to slam it on the intruder and look through the peephole to watch the intruder scurry away with a cart of some sort. After calling the front desk, they said it was a “maintenance man.” What? Why? Also, why would the maintenance man run away down the hall? Though I was furious l, I was equally tired. Without a deadbolt, I resorted to pushing furniture against the door to feel safe. I felt like a kid practicing for what to do in a school shooting. Fast forward to 10:30am. At checkout, I explained that someone came in my room, unannounced at 6:30. All I was given was “the maintenance guy made a mistake and went in your room.” No empathy. No sorry. No anything. I will never stay at this place ever again. The experience was horrible. The staff lacked empathy and responsibility for their actions. Don’t stay here.
