It seems that my previous gratifying experiences with Courtyard --both the US and Europe-- were no indication of how this stay in Sacramento would be. Worst would have to be the surprise expense that there is a $20 charge for each day one stays here and uses the parking lot. Unpleasant would have to be that meals from the bar are indifferent, uninspired, awkward. (Why does personnel appear to be disgruntled?) Not great would be the oversized to the point of useless ”chair” furnishing the room. Hard pillows? But of course. This is a general complaint about all hotels these days: there is a pretense to being up to date, yet there were not enough electric outlets to charge the array of devices some of us have with us. Also, with luggage taking all surfaces, where is one to sit while doing anything? A positive was that the Amana heater functioned well. It was not loud as so many others are.

This is my second time writing this review. The previous one was deleted. I guess we can’t speak the truth about our experiences? Let’s try it again… We were passing through and chose to stay again as our first time the year prior was a good one. As we had just spoken to friends who experienced a hotel with the dreaded bedb___ (written this way to not trigger TripAdvisor’s deletion of review policy), I opted to check the mattresses before allowing everyone to lay down. I kinda wish I hadn’t! The mattress had old bloodstains as did the bedskirt. I asked for a room change but there was nothing available. I asked to have housekeeping come up and change out everything on the bed. Housekeeping showed up about 30 minutes later and plopped the new bedding down on the chair and walked out. Apparently, it’s not her job to change sheets at that hour. After driving 10 hours with three kids, I got to ***** the bed, the bedskirt and remake the bed after 10:00 at night. Not impressed, Marriott. It was a huge disappointment (not to mention a health hazard), especially in comparison to the amazing experience at Towneplace Suites Irvine/Lake Forest and The Westin Anaheim. Do better.

The desk person at night when we checked in was amazing. Whole Place is clean. They are applying necessary precautions related to COVID-19. Keep up the good work.
