overall: Definitely the best accommodation in Saariselkä Geographically located at almost the highest point We saw the unforgettable Aurora on the first night we stayed 😭🥺 And it’s really obvious! ! ! ! The hotel does not have much unnecessary light pollution It’s just perfect for taking aurora photos with clear faces. The room type we booked is a cabin in the building. Highly recommend everyone to book this room type The design of the building within the building is really comfortable. There is also extra space for luggage, so it won’t be too crowded. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to easily see the entire snow scene There is also a balcony where you can go out There are also plastic snowboards to play with outside the door of the room. Everyone has a smile from the time they check in at the front desk The service attitude is super good! After staying two nights we decided to book another night This time I stayed in a glass house It’s amazing though! But I would recommend the cabin more Oh, there’s more! Be sure to try their sauna Super big, super comfortable and very reasonably priced transportation: I think it is more comfortable to drive by yourself if you come to Saariselkä. Although the ski resort, the entire town and the entire hotel are not far from each other, driving will make traveling much more convenient. It will not be difficult to drive on the way up, and you will see awesome scenery. The view, overall very convenient. Breakfast: Sufficient portions, all you can eat salmon and various fish, together with beautiful views, the overall experience is very good Dinner: The hotel provides dinner at the same place in the evening. I personally think it is worth a try. In addition to the atmosphere, the food is also very delicious! It is recommended to dine at sunset, everything is beautiful!

The room is clean and tidy. It is a small duplex. You can open the window and go out to the small balcony to enjoy the natural scenery and the Aurora. There were reindeer walking early in the morning. The restaurant in the hotel is also good, the scenery is very good, but there is very little food. Reindeer steak is the main food, but the taste is unacceptable to most people. There are few places to eat, drink and play nearby.

The hotel knew that we had to catch a flight early in the morning, so they specially prepared sandwiches and drinks for us, which was very considerate.

Spent the weekend at the hotel. Everything about the trip was so easy and well managed. The hotel seems to pride itself on helping you make this a great and easy vacation. They helped with all transfers, excursions, dining the works. The Activities staff is so eager to help you with picking the right excursions for you that really if you dont like something its your fault... :) they will answer any and all questions in advance to help you. Overall fantastic stay, weather is beyond the hotel's control and yes sadly it was less than optimal, but still enjoyed the entire trip.

Hotel in a beautiful location to see the northern lights. Hotel with a beautiful and clean room in a spectacular position to see a Lapland landscape. A good restaurant and a good breakfast. The staff of the restaurant is good, but the staff of reception should be more kind. For 4 stars hotel we expected more servicies. (e.g. a shuttle to reach the village center) and more competent staff for the activities. Good experience in Lapland.

We would definitely come back to this hotel again. We booked a 4-day package including 3 morning excursions: Snowmobile, Reindeer Farm and sleigh ride, and Husky experience and one evening Aurora hunting. We had booked the Aurora Glass Cabin. Everything was excellent, the reception staff, restaurant staff and all the guides. We had set menu with 2 mains to choose from. The food was exceptional and beautifully presented. The breakfast buffet was incredibly good with a huge variety covering all tastes. The cabin was quite small - but we knew that beforehand, but perfect for a 4 night stay. We we’re lucky to be able to see the northern lights, which of course can never be guaranteed. A magical winter wonderland

What a fantastic hotel! The staff were amazing and so friendly, a special thank you to the lovely barmaid (with blond/blue hair) who put up with me trying to learn a new Finnish word each day! The food was delicious! We stayed in a glass cabin, they’re all north facing so we were lucky enough to see the northern lights from our bed! They woke me up at 2am!!! We booked through Santas Lapland (I’ve done a separate review for them!) and we would stay here again any time! The view from the hotel is just breathtaking! There’s a handy restaurant and souvenir shop just a few steps away and the ski and toboggan slopes are in your doorstep! Really beautiful hotel with everything you need for an amazing stay!

If you’ve booked this hotel expecting a 5 star experience you may be disappointed . Upon arrival the location of the hotel is pretty special with great views over the town. We were immediately taken to our room which in fairness was ready on arrival. We stayed in one of the glass cabins as a family of 4 and I was extremely disappointed! The room is tiny with no real room to unpack. The bathroom is a small wet room shower only so no hot baths for the kids. Plus of course the whole floor floods. Our tv wasn’t working and the room does get pretty cold (this may be due to the glass roof). When you arrive the staff explain there are no guarantees of seeing the Northern lights which of course isn’t fully explained when you book the room type. I would 100% book a different room type at this hotel it did kind of tarnish our whole stay The staff are good and the food decent only comment would be sometimes we were waiting for things on the buffet to be topped up. The bar area is very small, only room for 2 families so having a room you can chill in definitely helps. I’m not sure there are better hotels as we went down into the town and didn’t see any that stood out. Book the right room type and I’m sure you’ll have a much better experience than we have. The rest of the trips and the in resort reps were brilliant. Just a shame we didn’t get better advice from our Santa Claus trips rep on the room!

The Star Arctic Hotel is located in a magical place. The view is incredible. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the restaurant is good. We had half board and breakfast buffet is yummy and the diners are great. Both with enough choice. We stayed in one of the glass roof cabins. It is not big, but cosy and functional. It took as a while to figure out the heating (floor heating as well as glass heating so you can see through the glass roof). Good bed and nice shower. Enough space for all your gear. The location of our cabin was perfect, due north for a good sight line for the Northern Lights. And lots of privacy. Please be aware that all the cabins and accommodation are detached so you have to put on your coat to walk a short distance to the restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. And would love to stay there again.

Cabins look amazing, however we didn’t stay here overnight. But we visited twice for hot chocolate & full breakfast. Amazing place, great views and great breakfast full of Finnish flavors (fishes, berries, sweets etc.). Amazing for seeing sunrise/sunset.

What an amazing 4 days we had. From the moment we arrived we was looked after. My husband has a disability struggles to walk far. The reps were there to help when he needed help. The food was lovely. Search for santa was amazing. Huskies rides were brilliant. Snow suits provided, boots and gloves were brilliant, and certainly kept warm. Our grandchildren were so excited, and to see santa with them, we will treasure it. Our cabin was lovely, well stocked with hot chocolate, coffee, and tea, mini bar. The bathroom was a perfect, wet shower room. Beds were lovely and comfortable. Just ashame we didn't see northern lights. I would definitely recommend

We had a great time at this hotel. Our room had a private sauna, which we used several times and really enjoyed. The room was large and comfortable. The hotel itself is located outside of town and a little confusing to get to the first time (especially as it gets dark very early). It's also a higher elevation than the area around it to try and increase Northern Lights viewing. We actually found that did not help us see the Lights, as there was often a lot of fog which blocked the lights. But it wasn't hard for us a drive a short distance for better viewing. The staff was varied. Several went out of their way to be helpful and give advice/suggestions. One or two seemed like we were bothering them when asking questions. Breakfast had a lot of options, but we found the food bland. All in all, we really enjoyed this hotel and would stay here again.
