One word…Perfection. Alan and Paul are the perfect hosts, warm, welcoming, friendly, accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. All the little touches and attention to detail were evident from the moment we arrived . We were welcomed with a lovely glass or two of wine before being shown to our room, which was beautifully presented. Not a speck of dirt or dust anywhere and the views were incredible both from the room itself and the adjoining bathroom. The four poster bed was Devine, like sleeping on a bed of feathers, so roomy and comfortable, with a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge ready for us to enjoy at our leisure. We ventured into Rye for the evening, which is no more than a 10 minute walk away and full of bistros, pubs and a variety of restaurants, we can recommend a visit to Webb’s fish cafe, delicious. On returning to our room each evening we had a very welcome nightcap waiting for us to enjoy and a breakfast selection form to complete ready for the morning. The breakfast choice was amazing. Paul was there greeting us each morning with a glass of bubbles to start the day, while Alan was cooking our breakfast with perfect poached eggs. We didn’t feel rushed at any point and both Paul and Alan were so very generous with their time, local knowledge and life experiences. It was a pleasure to sit down to breakfast with them both. If you are looking for that magical escape with beautiful views, peace and quite but near enough to Rye ,that you won’t have to worry about driving and parking, please do yourself a favour and book into Saltcote Place Rye, you won’t regret it. Worth every penny.
