A historical country escape in Surrey- designed for contemporary indulgence. Surrounded by lawns and landscaped parkland- Great Fosters is the quintessential English country getaway. With the main house dating back to the 1590s- and an eclectic guestbook including Hollywood royalty- it is easy to see how the building and grounds have cultured a unique character. Each room or suite is individually styled with historical European pieces and ornamentation- with contemporary comfort for good measure. Romantic four-poster beds and gilded Italianate luxury are among the choices for your stay- as well as rooms in The Cloisters or Coach House for a calm and cosy getaway. Outdoors- the Great Fosters estate includes 50 acres of picturesque grounds where you can wander- play tennis- swim in the heated outdoor pool - or simply do nothing at all. A calendar of seasonal events and experiences includes particular highlights around the summer and Christmas months. And when it comes to fine dining- the Michelin-starred Tudor Room is the place to be- English and European flavours infuse the locally-sourced ingredients. Mix it up with the more relaxed Estate Grill- where salt-of-the-earth European fare tops the menu. Great Fosters is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.Show More

It's not bad, but it's relatively rigid. I discussed with them to check out two hours later and didn't agree.

Just had the most wonderful wedding at Great Fosters, the venue was truly magical! From the two year planning stage to the actual day everything ran smoothly. The staff worked tirelessly and were always cheerful and helpful to make a truly memorable wedding. A special thank you to Molly Willis the wedding coordinator, who listened to all our requests. Thank you Great Fosters! A good time was had by all! John & Ginny Howard.

Easy to find, and a stunning location. All the staff were friendly and efficient (special shout out to Joe!). Our rooms were immaculate and well appointed and the grounds were gorgeous (we spent well over an hour walking through them). The hotel itself was lovely. A tasty breakfast in the morning after a spectacular dinner at The Tudor Pass the night before topped off a great visit. Will be back again, thank you all!

Beautiful hotel - converted manor house/mansion. With all its new extensions it is much larger than it looks. The manicured grounds seem to cover acres. Rooms and beds very comfortable. Staff very friendly. (Charley was very helpful.) Also boasts an excellent restaurant. A great place to stay within 8 miles of LHR.

Enjoyed a fantastic overnight stay after an annual family lunch. Room was utterly delightful- full of character. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast plentiful and good quality. The gardens are stunning, we went for a lovely stroll before a late dinner in the evening.

Beautiful property, comfortable beds, great food and staff. The gardens are amazing and so tranquil to walk around. Lovely pool to relax in the spring sunshine pool nice and warm. Hot tub is so warm I didn’t want to get out. A real slice of English history to stay in.

Truly exceptional. Outstanding staff, immaculate facilities. Every last thing exceeded our expectations. We splurged on dinner at The Tudor Pass and it was…beyond words. Best meal of my life. We loved our time here and are very grateful for the staff.

Wonderful historic hotel. In hotel restaurant was outstanding. Best Beef Wellington ever. Abdi, Joseph and the staff were wonderful. Location was close to Heathrow and easily accessible to Windsor. Easy taxi or train to London. Would definitely love to return.

Booked afternoon tea for a birthday celebration for 8 of us. We had told them in advance about some sandwich requests, so thought it would be straight forward!! I do not expect to have to wait over 50 minutes from the time we sat down to the sandwiches, scones and cakes to arrive. They had made sure our sandwich request was covered. But it was only two people that it affected. One was only white bread, the other was just cucumber sandwiches. Hardly difficult, especially as they had been told in advance. The cumber and soft cheese ones, were more soft cheese with a hint of cucumber!! I’ve never seen cucumber sliced so thin! The room we were was nice enough with its decor. However, To be sat on sofas and arm chairs with the table not much higher than a coffee table dosen’t work for a comfortable experience. The room was cold, we had to ask for a door to be closed to stop a draft coming in. Even when the door was closed the room was not one you could relax and enjoy. My daughter had chosen this venue as it was the place one of her friends had got married and she wanted to show us. We could have been sat anywhere. There was no windows to look out of, and as I said before the room just wasn’t welcoming. The waiting staff did their best, but it was not five star service!! My wife said that ladies toilets were in a bad state. One of the cubicles wouldn’t lock, and they needed a good clean. Again not five star service. I had sent a feedback form stating all of the above the same evening, and asked for someone to get back to me before I left feedback on Tripadvisor. It has been a week, and I have had no response. So here I am telling anyone that cares to read it, what a very poor experience we had. To pay £333 for eight afternoon teas, including service I think it severely over priced for the experience we had. For the money you can have a much better experience elsewhere.
