This hotel has a certificate in the front office stating that they are a Covid-19 Protocol Compliant Tourism Entity yet, none of the staff wear masks. It's as if Covid doesn't exist here. The pool was not working, we were not notified upon check in. There was a wedding on the property at the time we were checking in, and the strong smell of fried fish was coming into our room. We thought this would have been temporary, but it continued for our entire visit (one night). When we went to shower the night, there was no hot water. When we called the front desk to ask about it, there was no answer. Apparently the front office closes at 9pm - nobody informed us of this upon check-in either. The front office agent who checked us in and brought us to our rooms offered no assistance with carrying our bags, nor did she give us an opportunity to get them from the car before briskly walking away from us to "show us to our room". In order to keep up with her, we had to forgo getting the bags from the car and follow her, then return to get them ourselves. We left for dinner shortly after. When I was leaving, I asked the front desk about breakfast (what time, where it was located, etc). The agent told me that someone would call our room in the morning to tell us. She would give us no information, not even what time to expect breakfast to be ready. Of course we get a call at 8.30am to say breakfast is now ready and will only be available until 9. When we get down to the breakfast room, once again no staff are wearing masks, leaning down to talk in our faces to take our orders. We eventually just decided to take the food back to our room, as we were so uncomfortable in the breakfast room. I went to the front desk to ask for some kind of discount, since the experience was so unpleasant. There was no supervisor on property, and the agent called someone on the phone who I was not allowed to speak to. She (inaccurately) relayed my issues to him, and then hung up to tell me that there was to be no compensation or refund given, only an apology for the issues we experienced. This is not a case of you get what you pay for. This is an inexpensive hotel, but I still only got half of what I paid for. I had wanted a cheap place to spend a night on the North Coast, and I did expect the place to be basic. What I was not expecting was the shabby room, the lack of hot water, and the complete disregard for Covid-19 protocols. The lack of Covid-19 protocols especially made us extremely uncomfortable, and the attitudes of the staff/owners have ensure that we will not be returning.
